Now we have so many threads about how PS3 is going to beat 360 now..face facts, the numbers for PS3 just dont work out, probably even worldwide.

The last worldwide shipping totals which is the closest we have to 100% accurate worldwide sales imo (yes, it's not sales, but it's something close), is 31.4m 360 and 23.8 PS3 as of June 31 2009.

 

So Xbox is 7.6m in the lead.

 

Since we get ship numbers every quarter, using those..Sony has to ship 1 million more per quarter for 7 quarters just to catch up. that's basically two years, meaning June 2011. Last year in the 4Q Ms shipped about 1.5m more than Sony..lets say Sony flips that this year, theyre still 6.1m behind, with slow Q's coming up. It's going to be very hard to gain 1m a Q when for example, last June 31 Q both only shipped ~1m units.

 

The problem is I just dont see that as possible, MS will bring out Natal, Halo Reach, price drops of it's own, all things that will prevent PS3 from gaining. Natal alone could bring a big spur of 360 sales.

 

I think Pachters NPD predictions illustrate how difficult an opponent 360 is. Even in it's first month with all the hype, Sony could barely outsell the 360 which had no real price drop at all. Sure Sony does better in EU and has no competition from 360 in Japan, but it still just shows how tough microsoft hangs in there.

America is not the world. The ps3 outselling the 360 at all is a massive accomplishment in the Americas.

Your thread makes no sense. You fail to acknowledge anything Sony will do in response.
halo has been proven to not sell systems anymore, Natal we have no idea of how successful it will be. Both of the new motion controls will be complete failure.

ROFLROFL Microsoft toke off $150, how is that nothing, there price drop was more then Sony's. Also I will be very anxious to see how a $150 Natal sells.

The 360 had a $100 price cut, not a "barely any price cut if any at all" ..

also, pachter's predictions shouldn't even be used to determine sales, because a prediction can be completely off..

The U.S is a hard area for the PS3, since its already with its 360 bias, and ofcourse the wii. Everywhere else though, i see no reason why the PS3 shouldn't continue to outsell the 360 (only in the UK were the ps3 is still very expensive).

The fact that so many of these threads have been popping up tells me that there are some people (not pointing any fingers) who are worried or threatened that PS3 has a shot of passing the 360.

Another stupid fanboy thread based on pure speculation about how Natal will destroy everything, Halo Reach will be amazing and move HW, Sony just won't do anything in response, and hey! also fails to acknowledge that for Sept. Sony sold much more consoles WW.

Please just stop doing this stupid threads, or at least make good non biased arguments.

The 360 is now dead last every week, even in its own territory.

People thinking PS3 is not taking over are the same people who bought a HDDVD drive for their 360 believing it was the future.
