^How many memorable?

what standards d you judge that by? KZ,LBP,Uncharted,Team ICO,J&D,R&C all seem memorable to me

I mean memorable as in, something to look back at and play and enjoy generations after they were new, like if you look at the 16-bit and 8-bt era, games that you will remember even to this day. Like Street Fighter II or Super Mario World. Tetris and PAC MAN are the ultimte examples, but those are in another league.

Out of those you mentioned, I'd say maybe the ICO games. LBP, sure that's one that will be remembered. And maybe Ratchet & Clank, maybe. Killzone2 may seem cool now, but my wild guess is that it will be remembered as just another FPS that happened to have really good graphics at the time. Same with inFAMOUS, just a Sandbox game that seemed cool at the time.

So what "memorable" games have Nintendo made this gen by your count?  And what in God's name are you basing "memorable" on?

Wii Fit, Wii sports, Mario Kart, NSMB DS, Nintendogs, Brain Age, Mario Kart both on DS and Wii, Brawl, Galaxy, just to name a few

So games are memorable based solely on sales?  All you've done is name the great games from Nintendo, want me to just do the same for Sony and then you can tell me how these don't have the magical property of being "memorable"

Honestly, it's like banging my head against a wall with "Nintendo rules" graffiti'd onto it.

Consumers vote and review by buying games, the market shows which games it views as better through new game sales

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

And we've been through this, that measure of quality only works in a world where each consumer is unbiased and perfectly informed, while the average consumer is neither.

And the average reviewer is informed and unbiased, lol

By the way, I've got a great deal on a bridge, barely used

The worst thing you can do in business is to think your consumers are stupid

average review has the same issues, but he/she is atleast trying to look at the game's qualities within the general spectrum of gaming instead of simply going to a store and buying what he say on TV and having that count as his "review".

noone's saying the customers are stupid, I'm saying they aren't informed on everything, therefore how can their decision to buy something or not be taken as a review.  They didn't make the choice based on all the possible options, they made it with those presented to them.

What in the Hell are you guys arguing about, exactly?

Whether or not sales is definitively linked to a game's quality to the point that Avinash can look down on everything that doesn't sell 10 million.

...

sales doesn't equal quality.
miley cyrus it's not grammy quality or anything in that regard.

That's stupid.

I mean, Wii Music is one of the Wii's best games and it's not even in the top ten for sales.

Yes you are, you're saying that consumers buy based on what TV tells them, sorry but you really don't know consumers then, most consumers actually do a little looking around, they may even try something before they buy it and ask people who they consider more knowledgeable, consumers are much more informed than you believe.

No game reviewers base their views on what they consider gaming, on what they consider is good, not on what people actually want, which is why there is a huge disparity this gen between the market and reviewers, especially on Wii games.
