Forums - Sony - "PSPgo will fail miserably" - Independent UK Retailer boss

Man, the PSP Go is copping an incredible amount of flack. I think it's way too expensive here in Oz but not necessarily deserving of all the negative press.

It's in line with expectations, and gave a 300% boost in NA.

And i have never heard of "Chips" shops...

Those are some pretty low expectations then...and the boost is nothing to brag about. We shall see if PSPGo sales remain strong.

It is still in line with Sony's "pretty low" expectations...

And a boost is a boost.

Before you make another "PSP Go fail" thread, why don't you wait and see if PSP Go sales remain strong?

Appearantly, the boost is from a few retailers: 3 days of PSP Go+PSP sales vs 3 days last week of PSP sales. Pretty bad if you ask me.

As i said, a boost is a boost.

And it is still in line with Sony's expectations.

Show me the sales from another DD only gaming device so we can compare them to the Go. If they tower above the Go's sales, i suppose we can call it a flop, or fail, or whatever you wish.

They don't want to admit it's a flop. Also we don't know how much PSPGo helped in that boost. GT portable came out on the same day, and it might've moved some PSP-3000s.

Or maybe the haters dont want to admit its done well and is in line with expectations?

You are basing the "fail" off assumptions. Sony says it is in line with expectations, why should we just refuse to believe what they say?

uh...stating the obvious. Digital distribution = end of retail stores. Why is it any surprise that a retailer boss would hate the PSPgo?

The Blockbuster CEO once said that the idea of Netflix would fail too.  How'd that work out?

i live in the UK and have NEVER heard of gaming stores called 'chips' and they are wrong anyway, as soon as it goes down in price il buy one and so will alot of other people lol

This reminds me of that article a while ago quoting the "largest dutch game retailer" that turned out to have six stores in the entire country.

Anyways the comment isn't surprising.  Middle man hates system that intends to cut out the middle man.

It's typical Sony spin like this one:

"If you can find a PS3 anywhere in North America that's been on shelves for more than five minutes, I'll give you 1,200 bucks for it." - Sony

It boosted sales and will continue to give sony some extra cash. I figure it accomplishes what it set out to do.

"Sales are in line with expectations" is spin?

Okay, what were Sony's expectations for PSP Go? Enlighten us all please.

Like I said, they don't want to admit it's doing bad.
