Forums - Nintendo - Sega is workin' on a Skies of Arcadia sequel...

Well before they were disbanded, Overworks was working on a Skies of Arcadia sequel for Gamecube. Unfortunately the game got shelved to due to low sales of the Skies of Arcadia Legends and with Overworks gone, I didn't think I'd ever see a sequel to the game. I wonder how much work was done on the GC version before it was canceled. The fact that the sequel was planned for GC leads me to believe that it would be a Wii title. SoA has a cult following and I don't think its a popular enough game to warrant any sort of paid exclusivity from MS or Sony. What ever console its released for, I hope Sega does the right think this time. Skies of Arcadia 2 deserves to be well made and well marketed. SoA:L on GC never stood a chance from a sales standpoint thanks to a non existent ad campaign.

BOOYEAH!

:)

*loves SOA*

With all due respect to Soriku, I think SOA:L was the best GCN Jrpg, while Tales of Symphonia was #2. :)

Hmmm... never played SOA. Maybe I should try and pick it up for the GC?

I loved TOS - is SOA really better? How does it compare in terms of length? Anyone else with an opinion?

Both are great games, and ToS graphics and battle system could be viewed as "superior"...

But there's a little something more in SoA, a little bit more "soul", if this makes sense...

It's my all-time favourite RPG, and if you can find it, just make it yours and try it, you won't be disappointed... and you'll be well prepared for the next one...  :)

"A beautiful drawing in 480i will stay beautiful forever...

and an ugly drawing in 1080p will stay ugly forever..."

I hated the extreme number of random battles in certain areas though, but overall the game was magnificent, the bounty hunting (those enemies grew with your stats and were randomly just too strong, and were TOUGH, 2 of em cost me an hour long fight, Rupee and Daikokuya) was a great side-quest and the overall story was cool.
I hope in the new one they will have more ship costumization options.

Really sad that Sega never advertised it cause it deserved better sales.

It's probable that it will be on Wii, since the first one was on cube. And SEGA has brought/will bring all its big games to Wii.

That was a fun game I can't wait.

ToS looks way better then SOA... However... SOA has got floating boats ...

Don't the majority of boats float?

I hope it goes to the Wii as well, but hey we'll find out eventually.

Oh wow, great! SOA is one of my favorite GC games.

SoA was definitely my favorite RPG on GC.

And I've pretty much played all that there is in the way of RPGs on gamecube.

Consoles I Own: NES, SNES, N64, GC, GBA, DS, X360, Wii

SoA is an amazing game. I nearly finished it, just need to do the final battle, but I'm leveling just for fun now. This reminded me of the good old J-RPG, with challenging battles. Most big battles took me 1 hour to complete. I even died once in the first hours, but then I naturally grasped the battle tactics pretty fast.
Must be my Fire Emblem training, Fire Emblem being the most challenging RPG I ever played.
Even the Piastol battles were easy to me. Long, but easy.

Anyway, this game is amazing, and a sequel on the Wii or any other console would be a day one purchase for me. Well, I have to finish SoA first anyway.
