Muramasa: The Demon Blade. There is a lot of talk about this game. Most people know it's a good game most people want it and are interested in it. The biggest problem with the sales of this game is that a lot of people can't justify spending fifty dollars on it.

Everybody is saving their money right now. Everybody wants the new Call of Duty 4 2 and the new Uncharted and all this shit that is gonna drop. But honestly you guys.. Muramasa is better.

I know this is a controversial position to have since this generation is the generation of online gameplay, shooting people to death, and Call of Duty. But are you really missing out if you don't buy the new Call of Duty right away? Is it something so spectacularly different that you have to have it day one? People will buy this game blindly day one, but weeks pass and they are still unsure about Muramasa at fifty dollars.

I get it you guys, Muramasa isn't for everybody. I am obsessed with the Japanese, so maybe that's why I take a liking to this game so much. And don't get me wrong, I love Call of Duty 4 and the first Uncharted. I got every achievement on CoD 4 and every trophy on Uncharted, so I am not blindly bashing these games. I'm just saying Muramasa is a hidden gem that a lot of you will probably love and you don't even know it.

So this is what I am proposing, you guys. To those of you who have a Wii and plan on getting Call of Duty 4 2: unless you're a diehard Call of Duty fan, go cancel your preorder at gamestop, and buy Muramasa. Muramasa will not be in stores forever; Call of Duty will.

Awesome game, first game I've really enjoyed for a long time, kinda has a Symphony of the Night feel



Yes, it is very similar to symphony of the night in that it is at heart an action game, but has RPG elements inside of it. First and foremost, it is an action game though. I just got every sword in the game yesterday. Im kind of sad that I have nothing left to do on it, but I must move on and play other games. Maybe I will come back to it in ten years and remember how much I love the game.

I haven't played through Symphony of the Night all the way through. In fact, the last time I played it is when it was new. But I can tell you this:

It will take around 7 hours to beat the game with one of the characters. After that, you can play with the other character. While the map is completely the same, the bosses are completely different. So that will take another 6, 7 hours. After you beat the game with both characters, you will get a sword that will allow you access to areas of the game that you were not able to get to before. Doing that will take you about 5 hours for each character. After you have done that, if you go to the boss lair, there will be a new boss, and you will get two new swords, then you can forge the final sword. If you are willing to play the game this extensively, there is 30 to 40 hours of enjoyment to be had with this game. Not only that, but it is an experience you will be glad you had.

Oh then I agree. To many Muramasa will be a much better game in comparison to Modern Warfare 2. They target VERY different demographics though, and I doubt anybody who exclusively likes one will transfer over to another one just because you say so. Modern Warfare 2 just has the Multiplayer appeal. While this is something I don't personally take a liking to, it seems to be the more popular consensus this generation that Multiplayer games are more fun than Single player ones. So it isn't just Muramasa that suffers, but single player experiences as a whole. Muramasa is inline with selling as much or maybe even more than it's spiritual predecessor Odin Sphere. It seems to have much more American success than Odin Sphere did, but hasn't done as well in Japan. So I would say it is quite good sales, and the developers/publishers probably did/will make a good profit for what the game is. What you need to do, is hype the game before release. Hype similar styled games like Fragile or Arc Rise Fantasia. I think it is too late to hype a game after it has released. Despite what many may think, individual hype does help. This is whether it is on the internet or in a real world setting. Imagine if 1,000 vgchartz(hypothetical) users told 5 people about a game enough to coax them to buy it, then those 5 people told 2 more. Then all those people told varying amounts. While it doesn't seem like much, it has changed the sales significantly enough for them to be noted. The internet is a good medium for advertisement imo, and a much cheaper one also. So it does help, even if it isn't as significant as many may want. I think that the reason people think that it doesn't is that they over value the amount of hype. Most of the time it is just the same people, not a huge amount who hype a game. The reason why they think there is a lot of hype is because these people are very loud about it. Anyway, if you like a game or think you will like a game, I recommend bringing it out to as many people as possible before a release opposed to after.

I agree with everything you wrote. Unfortunately, I was unsure about the game myself, but just spent the fifty on it anyways since my mom gave me forty for cleaning the house (yay!).

I can't hype a game that I haven't played. I didn't know how fucking incredible it was until I logged 40 hours on it. I at least want to get some people to buy the game new now, so the developer gets credit for it. and I know they are going to cease production on it soon.

As far as Call of Duty and Muramasa targetting different audiences. Yes, they do, but I happen to enjoy both types of games. And I think a lot of people who own both Wiis and 360/PS3s feel the same. I am also excited about the rise of online gaming, and what it could do, but at the same time, like you said, single player gaming declines as a whole. This makes me really sad because this is what I grew up on; this is what gaming is.

When it's all said and done, I just hope Muramasa can climb up to over 500k sold.

Not sure about anyone else, but if I were to buy CoD:MW2 at launch (I won't, no access to consoles atm), it'd be for the online play. A lot of my friends would play the game just after launch more than any other time, which is why it's worth getting as soon as possible. For example, my friends don't play Gears Of War 2 very often anymore, but during the first month it was out, it was the only game we'd play.

Muramasa is a single player experience. I can buy the game and enjoy it whenever I want - which means I can wait until the price goes down.

edit: I should add that I really do want to play Muramasa (once I have access to my Wii), more so than any other game on the Wii right now. The art is really drawing me in, as well as the praise it has been getting on these boards...
