You have no evidence that the best days of the franchise have gone. In fact, with a Prologue selling as well as it did (far more than GT4P), if anything, the franchise is increasing in size. 8 million is a minimum, really.
Even if it were to sell 6-7 million, FF13 wouldn't get near that on PS3 alone. The last few games have sold in the 5.5 million range, and FF is a series that is decreasing in popularity: every game since FF7 has sold less than the previous one.
Modern Warfare 2 could take the best HD game crown, but I doubt it will top 10 million on 360 alone. And GTA5 has a shot at beating it. After all, GTA4 beat CoD4.

it isn't fair to say for example: cod: mw2 will be the biggest selling unless it is only the 360 one, not combined
