The DS keeps selling ~ 30 million a year.

It's looking at 28-30 million for 09

It sold 30.4 million in 08.

 

The Ps2 is down 40% YoY, and that's with a price cut. It has around 10 million left in sales, including the rest of the 09 sales.

 

At the end of this year, we can expect the Ps2 to be at 135M (+2.2 million) and the DS to be at around 124M (+13 million)

As the DS is pretty much selling 5m-5m-5m-15m in sales (That's Q1-Q2-Q3-Q4), I'd say that it should hit 138 million somewhere towards the end of Q3, or beginning of Q4 of 2010.

My guess would thus be September-October 2010.

 

 

The way I see it, DS is now at 170-200 million for lifetime sales. That is depending on when a new handheld is released, and assuming there won't be a 4th DS version.

You think DS will only sell around 20 million this year? You're probably about 10 million too low there, we still have 3 months to go including the holiday season. I think DS will pass the PS2 before the end of 2010.

 


Should have read a little more careful, although 20 million difference still seems low to me. I actually expect it to be closer to 25 million.

The PS2 will probably do 5m total this year (rough guess). After looking into it again, Yes I would agree that I may be underestimating DS sales.




If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
