Forums - Sony - Killzone 2 is nearing 2 million sales.

2.5 million tops

Probably a small profit

Yes, the have the engine now, KZ3 should be able to be developed for much less, KZ3 will probably sell more (I'd give it 3M or so) and therefore over the two games the profit would be pretty decent.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

1. 3 million. A little shy of expectations.

2. Of course. Within its first week. We know Sonys preorders were at 1.1 million in europe and NA probably matched that. 2.2 million x 30 = 66 million. Even if that 60 million figure is to taken seriously they still broke it.... (and 30 dollars a copy is a generous figure)

3. 2 to 2.5 years development time. Christmas line up of '11

1. I am aiming for 5 million (150% growth, I appear to be aiming for the stars). Userbase is still growing and the game will def become a platinum game that will end up in many new sku kits.

2. No doubt, expansion packs alone already made them a fortune and sales will continue to increase making more income down the line.

3. Killzone: Liberation 2 (psp) will come first. Christmas next year I hope for KZ3 and I expect that game to have mandatory install on HDD. Easiest way to ensure a smoother game.

I completely forgot about DLC... On top of first week profits DLC probably raked in some other decent profits... then along with however more Sony sold after its first week.

How high do you reckon it will go?

2.5-3 mil

Think it has made money on that massive budget yet?

Of course

When do you think we'll see a sequel?

2011-2012

Q1: 2.5mil tops

Q2: I think so. I don't think KZ2 costed Sony as much as GT5 or GOW III did but I don't have anything to base that on

Q3: probably, I really think this gen is going to take a while. No new consoles before late 2012.

1) Well strong legs so far, I expect it to reach 3 mio LTD eventually.

2) I believe that if game sells over 1 mio, it has already made enough money to cover the production cost. Killzone 2 pushed the technology so I guess the production might've been a bit higher. Anyway 2 mio is more than enough to pay it back.

3) Dunno, the more they'll wait, the less will the engine work, so unless they are in for some heavy tweeking, "sooner" is the word.

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising

Well Sony gets like 40 bucks off of each game right?

40 X 1.93 = 77.2 million

I highly dought the game cost over 50 million

It should be around 2.75 million LTD

Sony sold more than 1.93 copies already.

1) 3.5million+ with tiny legs.
K2 was launched on a rather "small" PS3 userbase. As PS3 sales grow due to the slim and pricecut many will pick it up eventually thanks to it's reputation as the best looking game on a console.

2) Production costs of K2 vary from $30m - $60m depending on where you read it.
The anti-sony fraternity will always place that figure at the higher end.
As I don't know the  costs for sure I will pass making a guess on this one.

3) Not before 2011/12.
