Forums - Microsoft - Forza 3 Product Manager: We beat GT5 on a lot of features

I would say no matter what both games will no doubt have both strength as well as come up short in some areas. Dirt 2 looks better and has better damage physics than Forza 3 yet Forza 3 runs at 60 fps while Dirt 2 at 30 fps. Need For Speed Shift has the most interesting in-car view as this view moves as you ram up the engine , brake, etc. Dirt 2 nor Shift has as many cars as GT Forza. No doubt GT5 running 1080p with head tracking is a plus yet it will cost somewhere else.
Having 400 to 1000 cars is a big plus yet it will also have it cost usually balance . For example, the races will either be too easy so you can take any car and win with them or too hard so you can only race and win with a select few. One of the problems with all console racers is the game has to be design around a controller instead of a steering wheel, thus easy to drive with analogs.

I disagree, I played the demo of Dirt 2 and FM3 in the same day. IMO Dirt 2 looked pretty good, but when I played FM3 there really was no contest for it. FM3 wins graphically over Dirt 2 easy. The cars are way more detailed ( you can see the polygons on Dirt 2's cars ) and the scenery was much better in FM3. I wasn't that impressed with Dirt 2 after FM3. Although it is nice.

Of course Forza 3 beats GT5 on a lot of features. The user generated content, the damage / physics stuff, the way it will be integrated in Xbox Live etc.

I don't know why people are hating Turn10. Both Forza games were AAA games so far and Forza 3 won't be different.

The latest GT received a 75 @ metacritic.com

Turn10 is just one great developer and they delievered. Just check the demo.

I cannot believe I'm seeing this kind of rubbish here.

You're saying that F3 beats GT5 feature wise just like the Turn 10 dude when you probably don't know the full list of features of GT5. How could you say that a game that's pretty much finished have better features than a game that's not quite near the 100% completion mark? You don't know whether PD would decide to add more features or remove some features during the development. Maybe if both games were ready to be released at the same time period and Turn 10 has seen the full version of GT5 and if they truly believe that their game beats GT5 in features, then they can decide to say crap.

I just fail to see how you can compare the features of a complete game compared to a not complete game without knowing the full list of features.

I can't believe I am seeing this kind of rubbish by a 54 posts guy here. Remember on the internet, you are nothing without a big post count. Lots of posts = big epenis.

On a serious note: I just said, that Forza 3 has some features that GT5 won't have. I did not say, that Forza 3 is better than GT5 (neither did the forza guy) There are just some features that forza offers and GT5 don't. Probably there will be some features in GT5 that won't be in Forza3, too.

But all this hating got to a point, where people forgot that turn10 is actually a very very good developer. Again, both games got AAA status. Sure GT5 will outsell Forza, just like every Halo game will outsell every other shooter on any console (do not count multiplats, adding all sales for all consoles...)

So, it's all good, calm down, have a nice day.

Oh wow. So if you have big post counts then what does that make you? More superior? More wiser? More 'bigger'? So if you have 50 posts, that makes you look unimportant does it? For me big post counts only show that you've been around the forum for quite some time and nothing else. Yeah man I'll listen to your advice... pffft not.

How does Turn 10 know that Forza 3 has some features that GT5 won't have when they've only see a little gameplay of the non completed version? Like I said, they can say something like that if they've seen the fully completed GT5 version. Then if there are features that Forza posesses but GT doesn't, that when they can say "we have blah blah blah which GT5 doesn't have." Then that changes the situation and perspective. If that was the case, people wouldn't see that comment as arrogance or be considered 'ripping' on GT5 because it's probably true (assuming that Turn 10 gets their facts right). But since that's not the case here, people are saying Turn 10 are arrogant.

Also arrogance and skillful are two different things. Just because someone is arrogant doesn't mean they're a complete dumbass or unskilled. I don't know about the others, but I certainly have said that Turn 10 has been very arrogant but I definitely have not said Turn 10 are poor developers. And I've never said F3 was a crapass game. I just don't like it. Just coz I dont like it doesnt mean it's not gonna be a AAA title. But the arrogance kinda ruins the image of the developers, especially if it continually happens, which has been the case with Turn 10.

Why do you think people don't complain as much about the arrogance of othe major developers as often Turn 10? Because obviously developers like Naughty Dog, Insomniac, Bungie and Epic Games don't talk about their games with such arrogance. I don't remember Epic hyping up Gears of War 2 with arrogant comments. Nor do I see Naughty Dog hyping Uncharted 2 with arrogance.

I don't know about the others but that's all I'm trying to say when I respond in Forza 3 arrogant threads. Turn 10 is arrogant. And if a M$ fanboy tries to deny it, then they got some kind of problem.

And don't think I'm trying to have a go at you or anything. I'm just trying to get my point across that you really can't say one game has better feautres compared to a similar game which isn't near complete.

We will know when reviews of both games are out.

But again the comment has been taken way out of context. I thought the comment was very mellow. What did you expect him to say, GT5 beats us on features?

@OP You are aware you can directly load any video from FM3 to Twitter or Facebook right?
Also The HD Video Editor, and fully customisable online modes simmilar to CounterStrike and Halo 3. Also He wasn't saying they had more cars, they said they had more features as well as 400 cars. Read it again.

Forza 3 definetly wins when it comes to car customisation but when it comes to tracks/cars/damage/dayandnightcycle/officialreckognition GT5 is far ahead, GT is a WELL known franchise troughout the world and while Forza is by no means barely known or even average, its not close to GT's fame

Currently playing: MAG, Heavy Rain, Infamous

Getting Plat trophies for: Heavy Rain, Infamous, RE5,  Burnout and GOW collection once I get it.

^ Well that's what happens when you've been out since PlayStation 1, lol

Fixed. Although again wait for reviews. :)

Different way to respond to sensitive questions from different developers.
When someone asks you questions relating to your competitions, they are not asking you to bash/downplay your competition.

GB: You seem to be more concerned about your competitors…
KY: To tell you the truth, when I’m interested in other games, it’s really difficult to not look at them with the creator’s eyes. I notice some details and I think to myself: “oh, they must have really hard worked on this point” or “hmm, they must have lacked time for this very aspect”. I can’t prevent myself from putting me in their place.

GB: More than 10 years after Gran Turismo’s debut, what will you record from Polyphony Digital’s evolution?
KY: I will probably surprise you but, since more than 10 years I design Gran Turismos we never told ourselves that we were the best, the numbers one. As far as I search in my memories, I can’t remember a moment when we felt satisfied with what we’ve achieved because we always want to make it better. That being said, maybe that when everything will be over, the day I will not make video games anymore, I will feel this satisfaction… but this is not in the near future.

wow Kanariya, what a good post. Yeah, there is a huge difference between these two responses. This is like the respond Stardock and Firaxis had with Civ4 vs Galciv2. Both developers hope the other success as who knows it would bring more gamers in playing TBS.

Turn10 are living under a shadow ... GT's shadow indeed.

It is surprising considering how good their games are ... but asshole are asshole.
