Forums - Sony - STOP COMPLAINING!!!!

Meh, Sony just needed to find a different way to rip off the consumer with an overpriced product since the first attempt flopped.

SPOILER!!! I KID, seriously though, I really don't think people should be whining if they bought it, it's not like they didn't have the option to buy the 3000...and besides, the GO is a shiny new toy, Sony knew that there are people out there who ABSOLUTELY HAVE to have the newest, and the smallest (WTF I thought it was all about who has a bigger one!!! )

See, now, that's exactly what the OP was talking about. People quoting these articles. Has it not occured to you that some people may not actually miss the features that are gone? Does it also not occure to you that some people are so enthralled by it's size and portability that they choose that OVER the features that are missing? What may not be a good value to you, is bound to be a good value to somebody else.

You mean some people don't miss the "feature" of having a choice where to buy games, and at what price, and to resell them? Makes sense, some people probably wouldn't miss their brain if it were removed.

Actually, that is spot on. However, some people actually don't think it's that big of a deal (would the thing be selling at all if they did?)

Geez people sure have issues.

Like many others have said here the PSP Go! is for people who are interested in a DD device that is more portable then the original PSPs. While Sony still offer a device catering to those who would like both DD and UMD options so there really is nothing to hate about it. They are not dropping support of either. They are actually getting more support by the way of mini's and mainstream devs jumping back onboard the PSP.

I myself bought a PSP Go! and love every minute of it. The fact you can connect a PS3 controller to it when you lazing about at home while having your PSP Go! connected to the TV via tv out is a bonus.

I still have my PSP-1000 with my umd collection when i feel the need to revisit old games (which i doubt i will but atleast have that option).

The simple answer is this. If you already have a PSP then you dont need to worry as you are still fully supported and the Go! isnt even a must buy thought as you already have a PSP.

If your one of those that dont have a PSP well now you have 2 options. A more portable device that fits in the pocket and you dont have to lug around a bunch of UMDs OR a older model that does almost the same things as the Go but has a UMD drive and DD access.

So in the end what is there to complain about?

Want a PSP Go? then buy it
Want a PSP-3000? then buy it
Dont want either? then buy a DS or nothing.

Is it just me, or was it WAAAAAAAY to early for any console-maker to introduce a console that can only get games through the internet? I mean, not everybody has an internet connection. Out of people who do, many of them simply don't have the speed to download a game that is a gig.

When you make a console, aren't you supposed to make it as accessible as possible?

I think that's why the Go is actually pretty crafty.  The regular PSP remains as a safety net, while the Go is really an experiment to test the waters.  If it doesn' t tale off enough it doesn't matter, information learnt.  Also, I think a handheld, with the acceptance of iPhone, etc. is the safer place to also try digital vs say a home console.

If you think about it Sony can observe:

a - continued UMD sales

b - digital sales to regular PSPs

c - digitial sales to Go

Yeah, but if the PSP Go fails, why did it fail?  Was it because people didn't like DD only, was it "fewer features",was it the price, was it the public outcry about DD and price, was it the smaller screen, or some other factor?

In the end if it fails to ever properly get off the ground Sony may learn nothing more than most people didn't like it enough to buy it.

That's the risk they take.  But they'll get a pretty decent idea.  For example low sales and a very low attach rate shows the whole thing failed, low sales but a high attach rate for those that did sell tells them there is a viable market for DD, but it is too small right now or their pricing / features are wrong.

I suspect that, despite all the posts, at this point the Go in a sense can't fail.  Enough people will buy it to give Sony an initial idea of acceptance, then they can drop the price and see if it starts broadening out.  The profit on the Go must be good, because we know the PSP is profitable HW, and I don't think huge sums went into the Go development.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

@Reasonable: Go is likely a very high profit product. As i said earier, it seems to be cheaper hardware sold at higher price and the software has huge premium in its price.
