Forums - Nintendo - What game do YOU want to see on WiiWare?

Ok - Flowerworks is done. Its still going to be a few weeks before it available, but as far as development goes - we are done with it.

So... its time to move onto our next WiiWare title!

We have LOTS of ideas, and already have one idea approved by Nintendo (a Motion+ only game...).

But before we jump into this, I want to do some market research. And what better place than VG?

...

What game(s) do YOU want to see on WiiWare?

...

Post genres, or sample games. These should be games that you are excited about, and would almost certainly buy (regardless of price). Also feel free to post genres/games you do NOT want to see on the system.

Please do *not* post detailed game design ideas - if you do this, you will lose all legal rights to the idea. If you have a detailed game design you want to share with me, message me first with a short "brief" about the game - and if we are interested, we'll organise to receive a more detailed version over email.

Come on everyone - this is your chance to make a REAL difference!

Congrats on finishing! Looking forward to trying it soon.

As for what genre would be good, I'd definitely be down for a good managment/ "God" game. I'm speaking something in the vein of Sim City, Tropico, Anno, or even MLaaK type of game where you build up your place and manage various resources.

The Nintendo Channel says I've put in nearly a hundred hours into MLaaK, and an extra 30 into Anno, so another WiiWare game in that genre would be right up my alley. Just make sure not to have the tedious interface that MLaaK did, because that kills me.

I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority here though.

4 Multiplayer co-op. Preferably something simple anyone can easily get into (e.g. beat em ups, platformers). Arcade friendly I suppose.

Seriously. There aren't enough of these!

Grats on finishing the game, btw.

God game would be interesting, and could suit the service. Hmmm...
They are also *very* art heavy games, which unfortunately isn't our forte.

Personally, I was always wondering why there hasn't been a "true" RTS on the service - a Starcraft (with online) tweaked for the Wii controls could rock.

I'm also so in love with DQV ATM, that I'd love to work on a old-school (2D) RPG, something in the DQ vein.

Some form of "smash this up" game with nice physics, M+ support - like a 3D Wrecking Crew?

Are people interested in more hard-core games that are more aligned as almost tech demos? Something that you *need* M+ AND BalanceBoard to play, something very, very immersive? Or are people happy to play old-school games, Wiimote-on-side only (i.e. dpad + buttons)

Sport games? What about online multiplayer? How important is it?

4 player top-down (secret of mana/diablo or something like that) perspective action-rpg
:D

I'm definitely big on co-op, and one of my "big" game ideas involves 1-4 players in local co-op (think a real-time RPG with 1-4 players in co-op). I'm not so keen on games where more than 1 player is *required* though.

Seriously, Smash Bros would be the *least played* Wii game in our entire household. No one to really play with, and never got into it.

...

Another idea I had: I'm huge on old-school 2D games in general. Anyone up for a 2D Duke-Nukem/Commander Keen style adventure/action game? Something with lots of levels, items, huge overworld, exploration for new paths, leveling.. (etc). Almost a Muramusa with guns?

I never thought God games were art-intensive, but then I have zero idea how much work goes into making games, so consider me educated.

An online RTS would be interesting, but can it be done with the controls? Wouldn't the lack of buttons get in the way? If you can get around that, I'd personally be VERY interested in giving it a shot.

As for your other questions, I'm generally indifferent to online, and much more attached to local multiplayer, unless it crowds the screen too much (Starcraft 64). I'm not at all interested in games that are closer to tech demoes: I want more full-fledged games like NyxQuest and Swords and Soldiers. That said, if you can incorporate the tech while still making it full of content, I'd be interested. I'm also okay with Wiimote-only games. Basically, give me a good, complete game; the accessories are up to you.

Project Needlemouse, supposedly a downloadable game currently in development.

Reading the OP wouldn't have been a bad idea. I still want Sonic though.

Another EDIT: I always welcome a good Zelda clone. That's right, a clone would be sufficient, you don't even need new ideas. Use a topdown view and create a massive 2D world.

Don't tempt me :P

I'm always blown away by how much FUN I have playing the very first, original Zelda (I also loved Zelda II: Adventure of Link, but seem to be in a minority).

But there is something about Zelda 1 that is really special (ok, Lttp is also awesome - but Zelda 1 does it for me :>).

I would love to do a "remake" of any of those titles - and surprisingly, it would suit our current tech/skills really well. Hmmm.

...

What about a "split-screen" version of Lttp/Zelda 1, where two people can play at once on the same console? You could run off and do your own thing as you wanted, and join together for selected sections/missions. It would probably have a few "classes", magic, some levelling - but primarily the good-old Zelda style gameplay. (its almost sounding like Diablo :P).

Something like gauntlet or ultimate alliance. I like group games

You're actually publishing a WiiWare game? That's pretty cool.

I know Malstrom gets way too much air time on VGchartz, but for what it's worth I strongly agree with his opinion on getting a game out into the public and observing their reaction. You can't really do that before you've even picked the game idea out, but you might want to try getting Flowerworks into a public place to see what the feedback is like...maybe give you some good ideas for your next game or for a sequel to this one.

As for me, I'd like to see an RPG homage to Paperboy.
