Forums - Sony - World's first mod chip for PS3?

I call bull****. I'd be willing to bet alot of money (if i had it) we'l never see pirated PS3 games. The security on the PS3 is supposed to be extroadinary and after 3 years of being on the market we havent even had a sniff of pirated PS3 games. Some time ago Sony even issued a challenge to the hackers to try and crack the PS3, yet we're still waiting.

I'm willing to stand corrected on this since this is based on what I have heard. It is well known that nothing is 100% secure; at leasts thats the consences. The PS3 used to be open to homebrew through allowing Linux installation. However that has apparently changed. Future PS3/Slim don't allow for another OS. This means that the homebrew community will gather there collective work to crack the PS3. Be assured now that this has happened we will see pirating on the PS3. It's a shame too I thought Sony had learned something from their efforts by working with the homebrew they avoided piracy.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

this will improve sales like no other. but its still piracy...

you gotta make believe on that one right?

Lol burning a 30GB blu ray... never thought that would happen so soon

But seriously I hope people dont buy into mod chips right now just when the PS3 is doing better

I hate piracy. Downloading music because you don't want to pay $20 for a CD for 1 or 2 good songs is one thing, but downloading $60 games is worse. Look at PSP, so many people pirate games for that.

Day one buy for me, my 360's are flashed (since 2006 and 2008) and love playing every new game, I still buy a few retail games but always download them first to see if they are any good,

I have COD: MW2 and Forza 3 on pre order so am buying those two.

The PS3 chip will sell loads (and loads of places will offer an install service) but the only issue some people will have will be downloading ps3 games as some are over 20gb, no problem for people with fast internet though, also you will need a blu ray burner but these are going down in price now as are the discs.

I can already play burnt games on my 360 without a modchip.

This proves the 360 to be superior.

won't work, the PS3 only reads certain codes meaning burnt games could not safe onto your hard drive making like 90% of the games COMPLETELY useless..

Currently playing: MAG, Heavy Rain, Infamous

Getting Plat trophies for: Heavy Rain, Infamous, RE5,  Burnout and GOW collection once I get it.

I think it's amazing that the PS3 isn't hacked yet.

These news are old,and this was confirmed fake a while back, so relax everyone
