The square root of a number elevated to square (again, not sure on english) is the module of that number. So:

(4 - (9/2))2 = (5 - (9/2))2

You cant just remove the square and eliminate the 9/2. Actually is this:

!4 - (9/2)! = !5 - (9/2)!  (! stands for the module)

!-0,5! = !0,5!

0,5 = 0,5

The notation for "to the power of" is ^.

All you had to do was watch how thw 81/4 turned into 9/2. What do you thing happened?

But I still say 0.9999 is different than 1.

Know why?

Cause 0.999999 has no 1 in it.

 

I didn't get what had happened. All I saw was you multiplying by two, not squaring.

Also, do you see a 2 in 3/6? No? But isn't it still equal to two?

0.999... is just another way to say one. They are not different numbers, just different ways to say the same thing.

Again.

0.9999.....  There is 0. There is 9. There is NO 1.

And reading I remembered, for you to say 0.99...=1, you have to prove it by limits. I had forgotten the name.

So, you are kinda right even though its a simplication to make it easier to do stuff. math does that a lot.

Hey, my annoyance level has been cut back a lot.

Also, this is NOT at ALL a complex theory. It can be proven elementarily (?) and easily.

No, it cant. Simplifying things you can. But you are not really proving it unless you use limits.
