I'm a big fan of the Ys series (well, at least the games that made it stateside anyway!), and I was browsing through the latest weekly sales charts and, to my surprise and excitement, I saw that the next installment in the awesome Ys series had just hit Japan on the PSP!  I had no idea it was even coming out yet...  anyone over in the land of the rising sun or some savvy importers pick this one up yet?  And does anyone happen to know if it's likely that it will receive a stateside release or possible PS2 version?!?

I've since checked out the trailer on YouTube and a couple short gameplay clips (didn't want to spoil too much), but it looks as though there's a new battle system in place with Adol having up to 2 other active members in the party.  Boss battles looked awesome as usual... and HOLY SHIT you guys need to see the opening... it kicks all seven flavors of ass!!!

Falcom's JDK band is back and badder than ever... DO WANT NOW!!!

Edit:  Here's the PSP gameplay trailer video... apparently those who preordered the game got a full sountrack featuring new and classic Ys tunes... lucky son of a guns!

I'm not as excited about the opening cinematic as you, but I agree that Ys is always awesome and this game needs to come to the States!

Yeah it does... btw I was actually more excited by the new opening theme song than the actual video though... I'm a sucker for JDK Band's awesome Ys tunes lol.

Wow! It's been so long since I bothered to keep up with Y's. I remember loving Y's Book I & II and Y's III for my Turbografx CD way back in the day. Some of the best gaming music I've heard to this day.

@ 321tttrini4everz... Quatera Woods was my fav as well... so peaceful and soothing!

Ys 6 had some great music no doubt, but Ys 1-3 are still the pinnacle of the series' music for me... although I must say, the new opening theme to Ys 7, titled "Innocent Primeval Breaker" (whatever the hell that is!), does give the classics a run for their money... check out the full version.... sooooo good!

You should definitely import a copy of Oath in Felghana and apply the translation patch: it's incredibly satisfying, and the music...honestly, it may well be the best OST ever. Zero exaggeration. Plus the game's good old fashioned, fast paced fun! As for the other games you probably didn't play (Origins and V), you shouldn't think that you missed much, unfortunately: those two were the worst of the bunch. Although Origins had its moments...

And yeah, I really, really, REALLY want to play 7. If it comes stateside, I'll get a PSP just for this title.

^^^ I'm seriously thinking of doing that because Ys III: Wanderers from Ys is my fav game in the series. And I know your not exaggerating about the OST because I've sampled some of the tracks like the awesome remake of the "Valestein Castle" theme, probably the best Ys theme aside from the obligatory "To Make The End of Battle" from Ys II.

And if/when Ys 7 comes stateside, I'll be right there with you picking up a PSP!
