That's the key, though. The new controller is modular, and can become the older controller, but it's still the centerpiece of the whole thing. That's what allows the motion controls to take precedence with minimal alienation

A little tweaking, and the Wiimote + Nunchuk could be a perfect alternative to a traditional pad without having to use motion at all. And let's not forget Sony's one-time plan for a modular dualshock of some kind.

here's to hoping khan. I think the wiimote is an amazing device. I have no problem with it.

Gaming would have died if it weren't for the Wii and DS.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

VG companies the big ones will stay (Square Enix, Capcom, Namco, Activision, EA, Ubisoft) for obvious reasons, but smaller ones are on the way out. Also it wasn't easily due to the economy, they were red for awhile most companies that are closed now. The economy only recently started effectiving games recently and that may because of other reasons.

Actually, thanks to digital distrubution models such as Steam,Gamersgate and Impulse as well as things like Xbox Live arcade and Wiiware we're seeing a lot of indie developers like 2DBoy flourish. Also, small publishers like Paradox Interactive are just chugging along nicely delivering quirky titles for PCs.

I actually meant the smaller developers as in not indie developers such as Midway, THQ (once they lose WWE), maybe even Take2 (which isn't small).  Also these companies might simply be bought out like Eidos. Also I know THQ might seem big but I consider them somewhat a smaller developer than the companies I mentioned before.

Anyways I'm out for six hours or so.

I see your point with Midway and THQ but....Take Two..small?

I'm not too knowledgeable on PC gaming history. Is it really that bad compared to where it was before?

There are still plenty of games, aren't there?  I guess you could say it is not as influential anymore, but it still seems fairly healthy.

Not even close, it's just some people that believe that (and are wrong) because the retail market of PC games is declining. And while the retail market is going down, the digital distribution is going way up, easily covering the retail demise and then some - Chart Track believes Digital Distribution will increase nearly 70% in 2009 (and Steam grew up 97% in the last 12 months)!!

In essence, if we didn't count retail, the PC games market would be growing up faster than console gaming. This year though, PC gaming IS growing up, while consoles are declining.

As for games, there are more games than ever coming out on PC. The problem is that in the old days there were nowhere near as many games, so you could track nearly all good PC games, while now (with the rise of indie games) there are like 5 times more PC games, and most of them are not backed up by publishers, so it's nearly impossible to even track most of the good PC games.
