Forums - Sony - The vgchartz ranking game--Metal Gear Solid 4!

His supposed ''anti-Sony behaviour'' (which IMO has been greatly exaggerated) has nothing to do with Metal Gear Solid 4 though.

There are a lot of longtime MGS fans that were bitterly disappointed with MGS4, and I thought most of his complaints were quite valid. Personally, it's my least favourite game in the series by far, and I dare somebody to try and tell me that I have an anti PS3 bias.

I say we drop the entire subject. The Metal Gear Solid series is on his favourite games list in his profile for crying out loud.

End of the day, I was elaborating on why people are getting at him. His posts have, in the past, been rather against Sony. Whether it was mild or not, that isn't up to me, but the observation was there. It

's not a big deal now, but it DOES make it seem fishy when he has something particularly negative to say about one of PS3's games. I said he was entitled to his opinion though, and applauded his subjectivity. If you read through the thread, you'd know that I was actually defending him.

However, I know why people got on his case. I also understand why you are defending him. There are two sides to every story, I've heard both and gave the most reasonable response to the situation.

I understand that you were trying to be the voice of reason, and my post wasn't directed at you (although I admit it seemed that way). It was meant for everybody that was complaining about Mirson's post history and attempting to get his vote stricken from the records.

Mirson is being harped upon due to his "low" score and his perceived anti-PS3 post history, while those who gave the game perfect are not being scrutinized, even though a couple of them have a well documented pro-PS3 history. Bias goes both ways, and going through Mirson's post history to make sure he isn't biased and not going through theirs, or everyones for that matter, is both unfair and hypocritical.

Again, I'm not directing this to you personally, I'm just trying to flesh out my opinion on the matter.

Well I've no problems with people rating games with how they see it but when they take points off for stupid things then I'm like WTF. Yeah fair enough, you's didn't like the story compared to the other 3. Very understandable. But why didn't yous say that in your original post. Theres not enough gameplay and online lags.

@mirsen.

Someone said you posted bad things about the PS3 a few months back. So I checked your post's from around the time MGS4 released and you sure have changed your tune about the game. Sometimes first impressions speak loader than anything else.

I especially love this post here mirson because this just contradicts a lot of what you said about the game recently.

Rating a game down because it's 2 hours long is dumb. You've got RE5 as your sig. I thing that game deserves a 9.5/10. I would never dream of taking points off that game because I finished it in 1h 54 minutes on my own with dumb AI which is were that half a point was lost and when you look at the leaderboards of RE5. People finished that in 1 h with a human Co-op partner

I'll admit it; I got blinded by the hype. When I played it the second time, I noticed all the things wrong with this game. MGS4 was a disappointment for me.

Why would people complain of the cutscene length? That's what MGS is about, story. I was disappointed when MGS3 took the route of more gameplay and less cutscenes as well as simplifying the story (making it more hollywood like). MGS4 made strides in this area placing the focus back on story. I do think though that a lack of theatre mode and ability to skip gameplay segments and watch the cutscenes off the bat was a missed opportunity.

A lot of the cutscenes in MGS4 felt unnecessary and some dragged on. I find it mind-blowing that the mission briefings went on for about 45 minutes. I can't believe it took them 45 minutes to tell me what the situation and my next objective was. MGS1 did this in like 5 minutes. Kojima went overboard with the amount of cutscenes in the game. You have like 10 hours of cutscenes vs. 4 hours of gameplay. The other games were pretty much half-&-half. And lastly, the story wasn't good, imo. Kojima might as well be a doctor if he can work miracles with nanomachines.

MGS4 had more fan service in it than any other game I've ever played, in my entire life. Unlike most games with fan service, MGS4 also pulled it off. I love MGS4 the first time I played it, it blew my mind away and after I played it I instantly called it my favorite game, ever.

However, with time the flaws in MGS4 start to sink in. I won't deny it, I hated replaying MGS4 after the first couple of times. The cutscenes are drawn out far too long, Drebin's shop ruins gameplay in a lot of ways (you're never short on ammo), and the story leaves no room for interpretation. In some ways, getting what you want isn't a good thing.

Nowadays, I don't know if I'd call MGS4 my favorite game of all time anymore. On one hand, I remember my first play through with fondness, but on the other hand I can't ignore the flaws anymore. When I think of a favorite game, I want to think of it like a favorite book or movie, something I can do over and over again, and I can't do that with MGS4.

seriously? are you trying to fool yourself or are you trying to fool me? First impressions speak loader than words and you my friend couldn't get enough of the game when it first released. That tells me a lot. Yeah MIRSON you got blinded by the hype alright and changed your tuned about the game the second time you played it. Thats why 2 months after you first played the game you made a post giving it a 9.5/10. LOL seriously.

Heres a post straight from your fingers. That can't lie
