| Larad said: Why would people complain of the cutscene length? That's what MGS is about, story. I was disappointed when MGS3 took the route of more gameplay and less cutscenes as well as simplifying the story (making it more hollywood like). MGS4 made strides in this area placing the focus back on story. I do think though that a lack of theatre mode and ability to skip gameplay segments and watch the cutscenes off the bat was a missed opportunity. |
A lot of the cutscenes in MGS4 felt unnecessary and some dragged on. I find it mind-blowing that the mission briefings went on for about 45 minutes. I can't believe it took them 45 minutes to tell me what the situation and my next objective was. MGS1 did this in like 5 minutes. Kojima went overboard with the amount of cutscenes in the game. You have like 10 hours of cutscenes vs. 4 hours of gameplay. The other games were pretty much half-&-half. And lastly, the story wasn't good, imo. Kojima might as well be a doctor if he can work miracles with nanomachines.
