Wait...what? no FF victory theme?? damn that's -1 in score for me if that's true

Did FFXII have one? If so I don't remember it anyways :O

Maybe there was after bossfights come to think of it.

Only bossfights. It kept the battles more fluid, and since you didn't need a menu to show your loot following, it made sense and saved time, but it would have been nice to have the option to turn it on or off post fight for traditionalists along with the victory celebration.

After a thousand fights, that theme music really adds up to a lot of wasted time. I'm glad it's kept for only special occasions like the pwnededness of a boss

Dude c'mon... no victory theme is like... Christmas without getting drunk out of your mind. You feel like something's missing.

Quem disse que a boca é tua?

Qual é, Dadinho...?

Dadinho é o caralho! Meu nome agora é Zé Pequeno!

Bah, this complaints are just pure nitpicking, and also, the same complaints that FFXII got, and it was a hell of a game, one of my favourites FF so far. The comment about the repetitive enemies is the one i really don't understand.
Can someone name me one game that doesn't repeat the enemies? it's a common procedure in all RPG, be it WRPG and JRPG's, and even then, all FF's have given you dozen's of different enemies, and their variations can be counted to the hundreds.
People, nowadays, complain about everything, so it seems
The only thing that's bothering me is the lack of the victory fanfare, but it isn't something that would even take me away from loving this game ;)

I fully agree. The song loses it's flair the more times it's used. However, a lot of people disagree and they should have a menu option to turn it on. The process of creating a an optional victory screen would be a minimal investment in man power for SE, and should be there for the traditionalist fans asking for it.

In their review, I hope they spend less time nitpicking, if the game is great. Mentioning flaws is one thing, but if a game is good enough, they most often are ignored. MGS4 is one of the most flawed games this generation, but since those nitpicks don't overcome the greatness of the actual game, it's remembered as one of the best.

FFXIII will probably be great.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

FFXIII will probably be great.

The only real flaw I remember from playing MGS4 was the somethings too-lengthy cutscenes.

FFXIII will most likely be great since the people who made FFX(one of my personal favorite FF games) are developing the game including scenario writer Kazushige Nojima, Motomu Toriyama, etc. and if this game doesn't prove that Tetsuya Nomura is a more than capable character designer I don't know what will.

let them nitpick it

FF13 will be an awesome game & probably GOTY 2010 regardless

As far as we can go back in gaming history, no Final Fantasy has ever gotten remotely close to being the top runner in GOTY awards. I don't expect this to change now considering the wealth of titles releasing next year.

@Onyxmeth

What you just said, is the entire truth. If even FFVi never made it to GOTY candidate, it would be extremely difficult for any other FF to ever run for GOTY, as sad as that can be

The top 3 Final Fantasies that may be described as overlooked are as follows:

FF VI overlooked for Donkey Kong Country
FF VII overlooked for GoldenEye 007
FF X overlooked for Grand Theft Auto III

If they can't reach it, FF XIII sure isn't going to.
