Forums - Sony - GT5 DAMAGE on ALL CARS confirmed by IGN

I think this is going to be the first ever racing game I purchase.

This!

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Misleading title in my opinion.

"there's going to be deformation damage -- scratches and stuff -- for all normal cars"

The thread title isn't misleading. Every car gets damage, some get more viewable damage than others, but all of them handle worse after a crash, which is ultimatly what I really wanted. You now get penalized for driving like an idiot. The graphical damage doesn't really matter all that much, but is nice becuase a car that can't steer but looks in perfect shape makes you think they did a crappy job on the game.

I dont think the IGN article gave evidence enuff that all cars will have damage. Scratches ain't damage. Im worried about that sentence I quoted above - yes, deformation is damage, but why the journalist then says only 'scratches and stuff'? It sounds like his own speculation.

Plus where is the confirmation that all cars will have mechanical damage that affects the handling? I missed that part.

The IGN guys says it right at the end. Here you go

Now, even though the Subaru looked like death and the Benz/Ferrari looked scratched up, all three drove like crap after the accidents. Whereas I could fly around in the rides beforehand, now I felt tension in the wheel when I'd be driving down a straightaway and cornering was tougher than ever.

Oh. That's great, thanks.

Now if they only add deformation damage to all 950 cars (with hoods, bumpers and doors flying off) this will be the perfect racing game.

That's very good news indeed. I don't expect much from the visual damage but at least mechanical damage for all cars will make a difference.

He said that all cars on show had the most important of all damage which is of course MECHANICAL damage. The Subaru had exterior damage to the fullest and the others scrathes and what not however I could not care any less about making a car look like crap.

Yummy at the mechanical damage in all cars I must say.

I agree. Thats all that matters to me.. Mechanical Damage.

I doubt we will see anything more then deformation of panels and scratches on normal cars due to issues with car manufactuers. However we will get full external damage on race cars. Thats all i really see happening when it releases.

excellent !

I wonder what's the excuse is going to be now
