I have one small disagreement to the arguments...
firstly Wii after a price cut is barely matching last years number.. it was 25k last yr's week of Oct 18th  n it is 27k this week..
but PS3 is 4x after the price cut.. from around avg of 6 - 8k to 27k...

and your original prediction was that PS3 will be handsomely beaten by Wii in all of October n November.. which i think was not much unreasonable thinking the $100 difference plus Wii phenomenon

but So far till the middle of the october both r equal... so i think u cant just discard PS3 especially after the Price cut n redesign...

So even if Wii wins the race (which it should do logically but sometime holiday shopping dont follow logic), it will be by 100k difference not something like 500k difference

Wii has the clear inside track, right now they are essentially tied, but Wii will scale up higher in the coming months than PS3, as ioi points out, PS3 has really one game left to drive sales, FF13, but that's a one week boost, not to mention expected sales will be low for an FF game, on the other hand Wii has a stronger lineup and a bigger crowning game in NSMB.

Regardless of who wins I hope NSMB and FFXIII can make consoles relevant again in Japan. Not liking the handheld trend all that much. BTW Avinash, were you trying to get every prediction in your sig wrong?

The Wii is behind the PS3 by a small margin though, but still behind.

My Theory could be proven right in the next few months. I am very curios to see the upcoming Japan Sales. The Wii will ofcourse be ahead of the PS3 worldwide but not in Japan.

300k+ LTD - Above Average.
500k+ LTD - Big.
1 mln.+ LTD - Huge.

Also, you set the bar awfully high for big and above average titles. Yet you argue on this thread that titles that would sell 100K could make differences during the upcoming holidays. So basically you are saying below average titles on PS3 would help PS3 sales.

There won't be a 8-10 million userbase when GT5 is released (unless it pushes back again for another 2 years).
