You have to wait at least until the console is announced before you can ask a question like this. lol

Well, you (thread starter) jumped to a conclusion in your topic title. You don't know about their next system yet, so doubtful you know its destiny is to fail.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

If Nintendo disrupts the Wii, then the next system could be even more successful

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Snes wasn't a failure because it didnt outsell the NES. PS2 managed to outsell the PS1

So no

nintendo's consoles never failed, the gamecube only sold 21 million and it still made a profit

Dammit!  I was going to say that.  Anyway, Nintendo would be profiting even if the Wii only sold as much as the PS3.  Nintendo doesn't fail*, they merely do not succeed as well as they may hope from time to time.

I think Nintendo has had only one quarter in all of its years as a public company where it didn't make a profit

We all know by now that everything Nintendo does is destined to fail... in the eyes of a certain "gaming elit", and thousands and thousands and thousands of haters expressing themselves all over the net in recent times...

Both Wii and DS were supposed to be fads, remember? I do... and will not forget...

But in the eyes of any normal gamer, enjoying Nintendo's softwares and hardwares, and simply having fun, it's of course a very different story...

And of course, if you view it from a business perspective, as many already stated in this thread, Nintendo has always been profitable, and is now even more than ever before: so even if their next console sells "only" 20-30 millions, it's not a problem, it's just back to less profits, but profits anyway... not like some others in this industry...
