1. These PS3 sales are due to many gamers wanting BC and not the 40 GB, what makes you think the PS3 will sell well when they don't want it.

2. It is selling worse than the other models, even if I multiply the numbers by 7 leo-j, it is still selling worse than the others.

Here, average UK sales 6,000, 10%= 600. 600X= 4,200. I don't care if it isn't the right average, it is still selling worse than regular.

3. It is a new SKU and it has below the average sales. If it continues it can be called a flop.

I don't agree with jjseth.

Your reasoning for saying it ISN'T a failure is that

A) It's new and most people choose the 60 GB starter pack because it's the better value.  (That doesn't seem to refute the failure accusation)
and
B) Wait til the 60 GB is out of stock, then you'll see an increase.

Yeah, the 40 GB will sell more when the 60 GB disappears, but if you eliminate the best package, of course more people will have to buy the less desired unit. Last time I checked, that's not much of a success...just forced buying.

£299.99 - PS3
£349.99 - PS3 + 2 games highest possible worth of 2 games is £100
£369.99! - PS3 + Fifa08 + 2 games.  highest possible worth is £140

A person either already has PS3 games or is a moron for them to buy the £299 PS3 and then possibly go on to pay £40 for one game instead of just buying one of the bundles which offer far better value.  Even huge fanboys cant be so foolish to deny the far better value of the bundles compared to the lone 40 gig console as the biggest selling point.

Ok, yes, that's one explanation as to why the 40 GB unit will sell poorly, what's your point?  You're just explaining why it'll flop.

As you said yourself, the 60 GB pack is a much better deal...so why must Sony get rid of it?

Um 60gig is no longer in production, its a old expensive Sku. Slap 2 free games on to the 40gig and it will sale great, and that will happen once the 60gig sales out.

My dog can tell which one is a better value. Sony is trying to get rid of 60 giggers. Everything is going according to plan.
