When he says the US will play its part does that mean the US will start getting rid of their nuclear weapons as well? Cause that would be alot of them.

Reduce stockpiles? Sure, why not?

Disarm completely? Not a chance in hell. And even a peace-loving lefty like myself wouldn't want the US to fully disarm its nuclear arsenal.

LOL,  I agree

Obama does not. He wants them all gone. Even ours. Start at 4:25 if you just care about this point.

Yes but in the end he also cited Ronald Reagan having the exact same vision about an Earth completely without nukes.

Lies and half-truths are part of politics, part of international diplomacy, part of law, and part of business. Almost nobody gets anywhere in any of these fields without manipulating the truth to their advantage. You can either accept that it's a crucial part of how things get done, or you can spend your life being outraged by almost everybody.

It's too bad that society regularly rewards liars over the truthful, but most organizations would rather have a skillful leader than an honest one, and skillful manipulation of the truth can bring all kinds of advantages.

Don't hold your breath waiting for honest diplomats and politicians to show up. If voters actually wanted them, they probably would have elected some by now.

Ok, so this means nothing Obama says can be believed, and nothing said by any country and the UN means anything.

Fair enough.

If you can't handle the shades of grey, I guess black and white is all you'll ever see.

PS Add republicans, democrats, lawyers, businessmen... basically, anybody who ever has to sell something to your list filthy, untrustworthy always-liars.

Grandstanding idealism. No nation on Earth with nukes will get rid of them 100%. There is always the deterrence factor.

They have all been on that list. It's just when I add Obama to that list as well, it causes a shit load of people to get pissed off. Not sure why.

well, minus some businessmen, it come cases telling the truth makes you more money.

Obama says he wants a world without nukes. I think we all do. Doesn't mean he's gonna get rid of all of the US nukes.... there's a difference between a vision and taking steps towards it, and a short term goal and doing it all out.
