Lies and half-truths are part of politics, part of international diplomacy, part of law, and part of business. Almost nobody gets anywhere in any of these fields without manipulating the truth to their advantage. You can either accept that it's a crucial part of how things get done, or you can spend your life being outraged by almost everybody.

It's too bad that society regularly rewards liars over the truthful, but most organizations would rather have a skillful leader than an honest one, and skillful manipulation of the truth can bring all kinds of advantages.

Don't hold your breath waiting for honest diplomats and politicians to show up. If voters actually wanted them, they probably would have elected some by now.

"The worst part about these reviews is they are [subjective]--and their scores often depend on how drunk you got the media at a Street Fighter event."  — Mona Hamilton, Capcom Senior VP of Marketing
