Forums - Microsoft - Analyst: EA could benefit from holiday shift to Xbox 360

Janco Partners' Mike Hickey believes the acquisition could also put EA in a prime position to capitalize on a possible shift in consumer focus this holiday season. Addressing EA's earnings in a note to investors, Hickey said that "the recent release of killer content (Halo 3, BioShock), lower hardware price points, and limited Wii (hardware/software) supply could shift market focus from Wii casual to 360 hardcore this holiday." Such a shift, along with the rumored $399 PlayStation 3 arriving in November, he continued, "should benefit [EA]."

They must be in another planet; with Mario Galaxy and many other great games, Wii will keep the momentum at least until Mario Kart arrives.

I think they're basically saying that the Wii shortages this Christmas could make the 360 the winner for the season (in North America) by default.

I think all three systems will do well, with the PS3 trailing the others. The 360 is in the best place to capitalize this season as it still has a lot of systems in the pipeline (unlike Nintendo), a killer line-up, and better percieved value than PS3.

Nintendo will sell-out of whatever they produce, but 360 (and to a lesser extent PS3) will benefit from Wii shortages (again) which I agree is great for EA.

This holiday season will be interesting. I think Microsoft could come out very well with this holiday season with a nice number of great games and such.

... and there is the PS2 / DS / PSP ... people tend to forget this . Nintendo has an incredibly well selling handheld and Sony has a nother console plus a well selling handheld on their side :)

I really don't think Nintendo will have shortages; they have to be prepared.
