Forums - Sales Discussion - European Users: How well is PS3 selling in Europe?

Diomedes1976 said: The big european markets are UK ,France ,Spain ,Germany ,and Italy .There are other small ones as Portugal ,Greece ,Holland ,Belgium ,Norway ,Switzerland etc that are big for the number of people living there but arent so big once all is said and done .Then the east europe countries have recently entered the UE and have still lower life levels and income ....sure some units arrive there but I dont think they make a difference .
Sweden? Everybody seems to forgett us and we are a larger market than Norway! So far all internet shops seems to have PS3 in stock so no sell out yet in Sweden. (But if we got 14k units it is quit much, nintendo shipped 6k in their launch I think)

I have just visited two stores ,in one there was nobody ,in the other two people were taking their PS3 and paying it .Each bought an additional controller and two games ,one bought Resistence and Genji ,the other Call of Duty 3 and other I couldnt see .There was very little expectacion .I asked the store dependents about if it was possible to buy the PS3 ,but they told me everything was prereserved ,they told me also that they would receive more consoles in 7-10 days and that they were making preorders for that as well .One old guy came and wanted to buy two PS3 but it was told he had to wait at least a week ... I havent picked up mine yet ,I have just returned from work ,its not even 1100 in the morning here ,most people are working and will pick up their console when they get out in the evening ,others with free day or students are already picking theirs . With enough consoles for everybody and launching in a labourable day ,with outside queing prohibited ,its normal that you dont see ques ...its not an european phenomenon in any case .

In any case here you have a link about the spanish launch http://www.meristation.com/v3/des_noticia.php?id=cw46034c5b0d440&pic=GEN

Robjoh: Siba on of the biggest retailers in Sweden is saying that all consoles are preorded. And people have to wait for the next wave of consoles they are guessing 30/3.

some observations pre-launch and launch-day from Munich: - Wii is still sold out in most stores - Playstation 3 stations have caused strong interrest before launch, crowds of interrested people - PS3 has seen strong sales this morning (launch day), but supply meets demand so far. I'll check again when people leave work for the weekend. Many people I know are strongly interrested in the PS3. Many people have waited for the Playstation, and have not bought a 360. Europe is the least price sensitive marked (Wii sells at US$ 312, Playstation at US$ 750), and Europe has not seen as strong sales of the 360 as the US. The market is there for Sony, and they have a strong software lineup. I think Playstation has a chance here, a chance to come in second after Wii.

Our Wii launch was on a weeknight - and there were plenty of people there. All preorders - I suspect most people picked them up on the night. Not sure why, I ended up regretting doing it (wish I came in the next day - but was afraid my Wii would vanish :P).

The quotient for the european markets (of the Europe of 15 countries ,the new Europe of 25 countries I dont know but doubt will differ much most are really tiny or have underdeveloped game markets ) is more or less like this . UK(actually England,Ireland ) :35% France :15% Germany:15% Spain :8.5% Italy; 8% . Sweden ;1.5% Norway :1.5% Austria:3% . Portugal:1.3% Holland;1.6% Belgium;1.5% . Denmark: 0.5% Switzerland(not UE but integrated in the european economy all the same ) ;1.5% . Greece :1% . Luxembourg ;nearly 1% . THe remaining 4-5% for all the other countries .

nintendo_fanboy said: Absolutely right. X360 is absolutely no topic here in switzerland, i don't know a single person who owns one and as far as i can remember, there was absolutely no publicity at the launch. i think xbox did better here then x360 is doing right now. but this might be specific for switzerland. but to point this out again, if ps3 launches on the niveau of x360 here in europe, it can be called a dead console.
Thats already 2nd or 3rd time i see you writing, that 360 is a dead console in Switzerland. I happen to live in Switzerland, too and 3 friends of mine have a 360, so just because you don't know anyone with a 360 doesn't mean nobody has it in the whole country....

ok nice...Didn't even know that Siba took preorders. Webbhallen says 2x20+ in stock (the highest they ever post is 20+) Discshop 184 in stock... Onoff still has stock but that is ridicules bundles. Spelbutiken says have stock (no more info) CDON has stock. Elgiganten is also sold out online at least. (quit big two) Elgiganten and Siba gave really good bundles so it might not be that strange, they made the 6500 SEK worth the money. I think Elgiganten gave one game and one movie. Siba sold PS3 for 6200 SEK with motorstorm. That is more or less al info I can give. So close to sold out?
