Forums - Sales Discussion - European Users: How well is PS3 selling in Europe?

Here in Spain it hasnt sold out completely ,but I would say 75%-85% .I have visited a good number of stores ,most were sold out ,but I found two (two big supermarkets ) where they still had some left .

PS3 Price drop from £425 in the Uk? Here Without signing up I suspect there is a interesting delivery charge, even if you live in the U.K

Good to see this site is still going

You know you don't have to throw your hand out of the window to enjoy a Wii Tennis match...
I know and everybody knows the PS3 is here to stay... Good sales or not it's gonna give you gameplay/movie playback/graphics like no other [Wii].
All these things (gameplay/movie playback/graphics) are also being offered by PSP and look who wins... DS because it may not offer movie playback/graphics but it offers the most important of the 3 (gameplay) to it's maximum. Same applies to PS3 vs. Wii

Also, most people have iPod/Zune/iRiver/etc to watch movies on. They don't need two devices to play movies on. And far, far more people will use the Ipod and equivalents for media services which is where the media wars will be waged, not on the PSP/DS. Sony will try to fight this trend but they will lose against the Apples of the world. Sony's Walkman brand used to pretty much own the portable music market, but their incompetence let a a multi-billion dollar industry slip right through their hands.

And when the Wii drops, people will see the reason in PS3. And currently, It's outselling the 360, and when the March stats come in, you're gonna see it more clearly than ever. Just my prediction.
I must say that I think you are a little bit blind here. I honestly think that PS3 would have sold more than xbox360 and Wii combined if it didn't cost 600 USD. Now it does and Wii has a lot of good press so why should Wii drop during marsh and why is PS3 suddently going from below 150k to above 250k (which I think xbox360 avarage montly sale for the moment).

Buy it and pray to the gods of Sigs: Naznatips!

Sony builds up the biggest launch in the history of consoles and people are surprised that there are still units available in most (not all) places? Right...

You do not have the right to never be offended.

I'm sorry to destroy your hope how people could get rid of the wii, but i'm sure nobody will find the wiimote frustrating and especially not arm killing. there are very few games which use the wiimote in a manor that could make it arduously if you play it a long time. you can play zelda or excite truck for hours and it won't annoy you in any way. This is the important point of the wiimote: it is not a different way to control games, but a better one, because if the new way of controlling doesn't work for a game, you can just use the old one and may improve it slightly. (zelda is a good example for a slight improvement, ssb:m will be an example for a game controlled in the traditional way.) The same thing happens with the ds: there are a good number of million sellers which don't use the touchscreen.

Currently Playing: Skies of Arcadia Legends (GC), Dragon Quest IV (DS)

Last Game beaten: The Rub Rabbits(DS)

i agree with nintendo_fanboy. if you call wiimote fustrating and arm killing, then what do you call every game console remote out there? thumb and fingers killing? anything in excess will certainly make ur muscles tired, so saying it's arm killing doesn't really say it's not fun nor say people will stop using it.

Currently loving my Wii x2, Xbox 360 Pro & Xbox 360 Arcade, and Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children Limited "Cloud Black" 160GB PS3

GAMEFLY & GOOZEX FTW

Current position of the PS3 in the video games category of European amazon sites' ranking: France: #14 Germany: #11 UK: #2 And now, for the Wii *drum roll*: France: #3 (despite the fact they say they're "usually shipped after 1-2 months") Germany: #69 (same remark as for France) UK: #457 (reported as non-available here)

I would think anything as new to consoles as what's in Wii with the motion sensing may be not so "easy" to churn out. And besides Nintendo has a reputation for not making sheety products (yes I censored myself there). For them to sloppily crank out systems will leave them in a PS2 kind of situation. They do NOT need that kind of press. Quality takes time. Just how it is. Even THEY couldn't anticipate this demand. The best problem ANY company can have is when you can't make your widgets fast enough for your insatiable customers. That's a beautiful problem and a rare one to boot. Therefore it is hard to prepare for. Best to take it safe than sorry. Best to underfill the bucket than overfill it. All good businesses operate like this. John Lucas
I do know somethings about manufacturing as I work as an engineer at a manufacturing facility. The problem I have is everyones criticalness of Sony as they rolled out a very complex system with so few initial units. But Sony was able to ramp production up unbelievably quickly. And on a very complex machine. Let's compare that to say Microsoft who wasn't able to ramp up production for 6 months. Not because there was so much demand, but because they just didn't have their processes straight. Motion sensing technology has been being explored since before the last gen launched. It's really not that hard. Sorry, it's not as complex as the cpus in these machines even by a long shot, the only thing that kept Motion sensing out for a while was how expensive it is since the components have to be small. PS2 situation. Yeah, I'm going to go with that story has been so greatly exagerrated. I had an original launch PS2 and I just sold it last year on ebay, it never quit playing games or reading DVDs. I don't know that they sloppily cranked up production as much as once again they were pushing for a better gaming machine using different architecture than had been used before. The Wii is using proven technology. It should be a relatively simply process. My main issue is I see way too many Nintendo huggers that are real quick to mock Sony and the PS3 or anyone who might have one and make comments meant to incite responses and then act like they weren't trying to get a response. Since they didn't have to do too much hardware development and the system uses mainly existing technology, and a lot fewer components than the other 2 competitors (no hard drive, no dvd reader or drive) I see no reason why they should not have been able to ramp production up before launch even happened. It's not like they are manufacturing all kinds of other products, only the gaming systems.
