well get the elite it a lifetime warranty i think but yea my 360 is acting funny lately it not reading my game sometime so i haven't got on lately i just want to finish vesperia so i could play mass effect hehehehe

Disc read errors, my old 360 had those I thought about turning it in but then I got PRoD aswell and I had no choice. You can always install the games on the HDD, that is what I did with Lost Odyssey since it always got reading errors right before a save spot... IF the game will succesfully install then those reading errors wont happen anymore. But when I asked about it (while contacting Microsoft for ProD) they said that disc reading errors are also covered. So you might want to check that out.

So, let's see, the manufacture date is, December 27, 2007 and I don't know what chip set it had, but the "number" is 12V---16,5A.

btw it was a little funny that you give us the voltage and that amperage as the "number" ....

I'd definitely try to return it to the store if you got a two year warranty first. Getting a brand new system is definitely much better than a refurbished one.

Basically the store gives you a credit for the purchase price that you paid. (So go get yourself an elite). The bad is they are going to take your hard drive so you may want to wipe your HDD by formatting it at a friends house first. The store later sends in their malfunctioned xbox (your old system to get repaired) and then re-sells them to wholesalers selling them on ebay and other various websites as refurbished and or broken as-is consoles if they are beyond repair or not worth repairing.

The Xbox 360 Pro (20 gb) that I bought back in March of 2008, and regrettably sold to my brother-in-law 6 months ago,

finally got the RRoD virus, ironically,  while I was borrowing it from him.  I was playing the Call of Duty 2 demo, remembering

old times when I actually owned the game, when the system froze on me.  I turned off the Xbox 360, thinking nothing was

wrong, and went and got a milkshake from McDonald's.  I decided to play the CoD 2 demo again when I got back and turned

the Xbox 360 on, when, to my surprise, the Red Ring of Death had taken it over.  I had only been playing the demo for less

than 10 minutes prior to it freezing on me.

So, let's see, the manufacture date is, December 27, 2007 and I don't know what chip set it had, but the "number" is 12V---16,5A.

Anyways, I will be sending it in to Microsoft so it can be fixed, for my brother-in-law.  I did have a two year extended plan from the

store I bought it from so I wonder if I can just get a new one from the store?  I seriously doubt that.  Well, I am not too bummed

out about it.  It lasted for about a year and a half without any problems so I am content with that result and I look forward to the

Xbox 360 return from the afterlife.

@ bolded: I'm not trying to start anything, but I can't believe you (or anyone) could find this acceptable. When I buy any electronics, I damn well expect it to last at least 5 years. I don't know how in god's name microsoft was able to get away with this, and keep their fanbase. It's mind boggling.

anyways, @OP: sorry to hear about your (brother-in-law's) xbox. hopefully you'll (he'll?) get it back in no time. :)

I used to think the same thing about the PS2 after my 3rd one died. I think once it has great games all else is overlooked.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Lol...I didn't know what to call it.  I added it because I thought some might be interested to know that it was

an older chip set and not the Jasper I guess.

Well, that's cool.  I definitely will be calling the store to make sure because that would be a better deal for my

brother-in-law.
