Wait the House of Lords isn't elected?

Really?

I mean... I knew that was the case way back when it started but... I didn't think such a thing would of persisted.

That's... ridiculous.

Additionally if I had a vote, I'd vote Liberal Democrat.

The UK has a bunch of autoritarian laws I don't agree with.  Retention of DNA of innocent people, limits on protesting and the like.

They're for an equality bill and for a bill of rights in general.  Etc.

The UK could stand to do with better personal liberties.

Also they're for devolution while the conservative party is often against it... if I'm correct anyway.

Also I like the Single Transferable Vote idea.

I have no idea who i will vote, its looking like the Tories though.

At kowen + SciFi.
Aren't the BNP gaining a lot of votes recently, compared to what they used to get? That 4th party you guys mentioned... They could very well be it in a few years time.

PS. I dont really talk politics, so i may sound VERY noobish on this.

That's pretty much why I favour them over the other two main parties. They have good socially libertarian views.

as long as you arent a apacifist... fine lol, no, used to be actually, but im not that niave anymore

if you want to make university free then fine... but i want a MUCH tougher entry... aiming for 100% Uni education is idiotic. idk, i always thought more people going to uni is good?

yes i do want my vote to count.. proportional representation doesnt give that.... it gives weak governments, coalitions and hung parliaments. even if it does, surely that would be more representative of the people? i dont think it always would do so either, depends on what kinda PR you use

of course you mean that... but give me some figures. im not an economist, but i agree with the idea, like i said, more than is now

NHS is unworkabkle as it stands, education needs better management at headmaster/mistress level, they cant run the finances unworkable? eh? it needs improvment, but id hardly go that far, i agree education should be better managed

tax "loopholes"... I'm an expert on these... its part of my job... trust me the big ones arent loopholes but HMRC allowed allowances/features maybe there shouldnt be soo many allowances for the super rich then?

I see plenty of very very polluting buses driving around.... empty, cleaner cars is a better idea, ONLY very large cities can have truly integrated transport systems. cleaner busses then would help too, cleaner cars as i understand are unaffordable for most?

monarchy... whatever... cost bugger all in the grand scheme of things and IT IS  a major tourist thing no matter what anyone says. i dont know, tourists dont actually come to see them, but the buildings and sites, they can stay, just not the monarchy itself

I dont see why elected people are guaranteed to be better at this job.. so a partly elected house seems right to me. the idea is that democracy represents the people, i can understand having a few experts in some fields there, but more than 25% isnt really representative.

nuclear power is a massive topic... its ok saying its hard to dispose of it, but give me a viable and ready now alternative...  nuclear weapons, its ok for the US but not for us? - does not compute. i feel safer with a nuclear defense of our own, its served us well since 1945.

im not an expert, but i saw a tv report that suggested nuclear power isnt safe or viable, it was on the BBC a few months ago, ill see if i can find it for you. nuclear weapons id prefer no-one had tbh, i really dont see why we need them, the US arent gonna scrap theres, so why not just have an agreement on defence like that, if they scrap them it would most likely mean that there arent any more nuclear powers that would attack us
