With the popularity of the SMT series rising as of late, I'm starting to get curious about the games myself.

I'm in the middle of the Suikoden series though, but when I'm done with that I might give it a try.

Are the games related at all? Should I start with Persona 1 and go from there or it doesn't matter?

I'm not happy that they changed the soundtrack. It doesn't really fit the dark atmosphere the original Persona had. I'll probably pick it up when it hits the bargain big for the Snow Queen quest.

And I have to agree with you on the changes. They were okay until I heard vocals... not that they were bad they sounded like they wouldn't fit. Music in RPGs is supposed to create / support the atmosphere in the game.

Doesn't matter. The second game actually has two parts though, one not releasing in the U.S(but was fan translated.)

Yeah, definitly give 'em a try. No, there's not really much story-relation in Persona-series except for Persona 2, which had 2 parts but only second came to NA. Check out Digital Devil Saga and Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne also. Great games all of them.
