As said before, Uncharted also has a very loyal fanbase, many of which hold Uncharted as one of the best games on PS3 (me included), so the number of Uncharted 2 buyers will at least be similar to the first one, hype and the much larger install base will do the rest. Resistance 2 failed because it was released into a sea of great FPS's, Motorstorm 2 didn't really add much to the original, whereas Uncharted 2 is still fairly unique and being released into a sparsely occupied genre on PS3. I'd say 3 - 4 mil is realistic.
First motorstorm sucked so why would anyone buy the second one.
First resistance was alright because it was the only game to play at the time. Insomniac should just concintrate on making one rachet and clank game every 2 years.
First uncharted was one of the best games on PS3 and the second looks to improve upon that.

I agree that Uncharted 2 is either going to sell on par with the previous game or outsell it. The comparison made with Resistance 1&2 cannot be taken into account as the circumstances around the lower sales for the 2nd game, which have already been stated, are not present on the release of Uncharted 2

I completely see your point
but I expect the whole industry (gaming press/media) will support UC2
I mean, R2 was never supposed to be game of the year ... UC2 may be !
+ Slim PS3 + price drop + no Gears of War 2 + MARKETING + multiplayer !!!
Time to Work !
Uncharted is nothing like Resistance or Motorstorm. This is a totally different league of quality gaming. Resistance and Motorstorm series are mediocre at best and deserve declining sales with each iteration. Uncharted is amazing.

Well, I have basically only ever had monkey is Nate, so it would be a radical change...
Didn't Uncharted1 sell 2M BEFORE it was bundled???
Also, Resistance 2 releases around WaW, and in the shadow of KZ2.
4 ≈ One

The NPD has it as between 500k and 750k as of April without bundles, so in the US there have fewer than 500k copies sold as part of bundles. In Europe, there are loads of small bundles, but always a choice in what game, so those sales are indicative of a desire to buy the game, so will likely translate in Uncharted 2 sales

QFT....
@bugrimmar You compare the game to a FPS then you predict its sales based on the proximity of its release to a (albeit very popular) FPS relase?? WTF?
First of all, there's is NOTHING coming out that can compare directly to the Uncharted 2 experience, nothing really. No other game is like it this whole year. If anyone wants her/his FPS fix then great, there are even different options out there this year: Killzone 2, Halo 3 ODST, COD MW2. Uncharted is unique, that's it.
Second, a number of factors in benefit of Uncharted 2:
A) It is getting a LOT more marketing support than the first one got during its release and prior to it (many MP betas, public open beta almost here too).
B) The PS3 is not $500-$400 now. The PS3 installed base is larger too.
C) PS3 sales are on the rise and the PS3 (slim) is the new "cool thing" right now.
D) Uncharted 2 is a more polished/bigger game than the first one and the reviews are starting to show it. It's DEFINITELY GOTY material, the first one, sadly but true, WAS NOT.
Third, I'd be more worried about Assassin's Creed 2 (fuck it, I hated the first one). If PS3 owners will prefer that trash over the awesomeness that is U2AT (again), then the PS3 is really doomed (or maybe not, but C'MON!).
