Maybe it is the eighth or ninth.

Three DQs on DS. The World Ends With You on DS. FF 4 on DS. Pokemon D/P/P on DS. Pokemon G/S on DS. BIS on DS. Some people think the FF on PSP also counts.

don't count remakes as part of this gen's games, and the other games you mentioned didn't recieve the necessary review scores, and you know that's what the thread is talking about.

I didn't notice the abbreviation for M & L, but you're still wrong with World Ends with You.  So now it would be the 2nd if it got 90.  Not the 8th or 9th like you claimed.

Except I count remakes.  This is a wild guess, but I doubt I'll think any jrpg released this generation is as good as the DS version of FF 4 unless a DS version of FF 6 or a FF 7 remake comes out.  Although, I'm sure more gamers will end up thinking Pokemon P or some other Pokemon is the best game.

Demon's Souls won't end up wtih a AAA score when the dust settles. It's appeal is very limited. Jrpg fans are very overrepresented (and vocal) on internet forums in general (if you looked at the internet you'd think these games were uber popular when in fact they sell little in the west outside of the big franchises: Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts and Pokemon), especially on vgchartz. So don't think that the game will get universal critical acclaim just because jrpg and ATLUS fanboys love it.

Had From Software included difficulty sliders for this game (to make it easier) it would have more appeal but I don't think it would have that much more appeal. Demon's Souls from the looks of it reminds me of old-school dungeon crawling wrpgs (which is not unusual for a title published by ATLUS. They've published and developed a number of wrpg/jrpg hybrids before). It doesn't have the feel of a modern wrpg (think Bethesda, Bioware, 2K Games or Fable).

Maybe it'll be the first official jrpg to pass the 1m mark

is there a reason this game is not on best buys website?

Yeah--I called Gamestop about this game on Saturday and they had no idea what I was talking about.  They were like, "What platform is that on?"
