^this.
Apple is so money hungry they make Microsoft look like a charitable organization.

Yah keep telling yourself that one. I paid 44.99 to upgrade all 5 of my macs (work laptop, imac, mac mini for the TV, mac pro server, home laptop) to Snow Leapord (the latest mac operating system).
The last one, leapord, came out about the same time as Vista and the changes are almost the same between Leapord/Snow Leapord and Vista/Windows 7. The kernel is the same, the architecture is the same ect. The big difference is both are smaller and more efficient, both are faster, both have features like the dock (which are enhanced in Snow Leapord, coppied from Apple in Windows 7). Both are, more or less, marginal upgrades that improve performance but keep everything more or less the same.
For this performance centered upgrade I paid less then 10 dollars per computer for the upgrade and got the full featured version of the OS. I also got iwork, which does everything Microsoft office does (except Access, but who uses that anyway?) for under 50 bucks, again for use on all 5 computers. Of course imovie, garage band, iphoto and the rest were all free. So for 100 bucks I had a new OS AND productivity software comparable to Office on 5 computers.
Alternately if I had 5 PCs Windows 7 Ultimate costs 200 dollars per box to upgrade from Vista Ultimate (since you can't go from Ultimate to a lower version of 7) costing 1000 just for the OS upgrade. Then if I want Office I'd need to buy 5 licenses at about 300 bucks a pop on sale costing me another 1500 bucks.
Yes you can mess around with OEM versions of Vista and save a little or OEM versions of Office (and then get hassled even if you make minor changes to your computer and have to buy it again if you get a new computer) but even then its well over 1,000 bucks for 5 computers headaches and all.
So yes, I'll take less then 1/10th the price with superior software from Apple thank you. The idea that Microsoft is less greedy with the things they pull is just insane. They make a worse product, charge more, have no tech support infrastructure (free support at the apple store even on super old macs is awesome) and endlessly try to screw you with licensing restrictions and software protection (there are ZERO such protections to mess you up on OSX discs and mac software).
You can make an argument for Linux, or Google or other companies, but Microsoft is vastly inferior to Apple in just about every way customer service wise, product wise and pricing wise.
