Sad thing is, some people actually need help with this...I wonder how much you'll have to pay to have your Wii set up? $199?

Why would you need to have it set up? Is the PS3 more difficult to set up or something?

1) ps3 set up is identical in difficulty to a 360.

2) geek squad will charge the same to set up a 360 or a wii.

3) yes, people do buy this shit.  my girlfriend's dad is one of those peoople.  he recently bought a sound bar for which the only set-up was to plug in the speaker, plug in the optical audio cord, and set the TV to send sound to an external device.  American wanted to charged $200 for the service of setting it up.  He did finally agree to let me set it up for him (free) but he was really worried I wouldn't be able to figure it out.

wow thats unbelievable

i got another one for ya.

so i'm sitting down waiting for the train after work.  Some guy sits down next to me, sees me playing my ds starts talking to me.  he just wanted to know a bit about the ds as a system but then he tells me the most unbelievable story (imo).  it was shortly after the holiday and the ps3 is at the time just a bit over a year old which means that you, i, anyone could easily walk into any store and buy a ps3 for $400.  but noooo....this guy starts bragging to me about how for the holidays he got his kids a ps3.  he said something to the effect of "i was browsing craigslist and i found this guy who was willing to give me a great deal on a used ps3.  yeah, he only charged me $1500."    i nodded politly but inside i died a little.

Geek Squad overcharges for A LOT of things, which is why my dad and I really dislike them (note that I didn't say hate). We had our old desktop taken in for a diagnostic scan and it cost us $199 for the scan (which took up 2-3 hours). Then one time my second laptop (the one that had gotten destroyed in a carwreck last summer) had an error (turns out it somehow got a virus) and the desktop booted up to a black screen, so I left math class ASAP and went to Geek Squad. One of the guys opened up the Task Manager, typed in "Explorer" for a new Task, and got everything loaded. Then he wanted to charge me $30 for him doing that. I went APESHIT then. I couldn't leave Best Buy for not paying for his 'service,' so I called my dad to come settle things and we did. Ended in getting Geek Squad written up after reporting it online, so that Best Buy had to change its standards/service prices.
