Forums - Gaming - Dirt 2 or NFS Shift?

I don't think the focus of either game was to be a simulation, IMO they are both arcade racers, but DiRT 2 is closer to the real thing than NFS: Shift. Again, just my opinion.

Both are in-between arcade and simulation. Just like GRID & PGR.

That is a good way to explain it.

I really hope one of these is rented out when I go to video store tonight...

OP: Oh, BTW, if you liked Grid, DiRT 2 uses the same engine, just an updated version of it.

NfS is the more serious game here, DiRT 2 is a primarily arcadey game

loooool ???????

Shift is much more arcadey. The car drifts soooo unrealistic.

It is meant to be more realistic, with the exception of drift, certainly DiRT 1 was very arcadey for much of, with the exception of the rally stages which were meant to be more realistic

Also, 1 simple difference, SHiFT is all on track, DiRT is not

I hope you don't want to tell me that DiRT is an arcade game like Burnout, Ridge Racer & OutRun.....

It's correct that Shift is about racing on asphalt tracks. Is that part of your reasoning why NFS is more realistic ?

DiRT did not handle realisticly, it is not Burnout, it is in the middle, like GRiD

Well i rented NFS Shift...and i hate it. Its like half racing sim, half arcadey game...and all BS.

Where are the cars? there is like 10 cars per tier and 4 tiers? Maybe ther are some later but i doubt it...

Anywho, i took out the 360 steering wheel out for this one...and put it back after a few races. I set it to "experienced difficulty" and still can just plow through everyone like a bouldozer. Its too arcadey for the steering wheel and controls just as good with a controller.

I guess ill just play PGR4 until forza 3 comes out.

I'll have to give Dirt 2 a try some other time...

Well, i played Colin Mcrae Dirt 2 for approx 3 hours yesterday for the first time, during that period i picked up 285 G's & reached level 16 and won approx 25+ races, i'm sure the length of the races will get longer but based on the points i already have for it and how far i have progressed in career mode, i don't see this been a lengthy game.

Defo a rent job.

Still an excellent racing game though, lots of fun.
