Forums - Sales - How Michael Jackson Singstar will boost PS3?

It won't boost much hardware, I don't think. I doubt people will buy a PS3 just to buy SingStar: Michael Jackson.

However, it will sell more than any other SingStar. It will cross 1 million, and might hit 2 million. Don't overestimate it.

Superchunk, this game is on the PS3. Get over it. Would it have made more fiscal sense to lend the music out to everyone? Yeah. But obviously Sony has a game here that's advantageous to them, and they'd like to draw new audiences to the PS3. Sure, they could make more profit, but so could other companies. Microsoft could make more money by putting Lips on the PS3, but they don't.

Sure, it might not make much fiscal sense to you, but it's clear to the rest of us. Stop whining all over the thread, and never call anyone else "retarted." It's the definition of irony.

My bad on the retarded comment. I didn't mean it as You are retarded, but more like you're acting retarded.

I am only thinking from a purely fiscal point of view for an IP that obviously isn't exclusive by nature, i.e. not a Mario/LBP type of game. I can't believe all of you are so stuck on that fact that you can't discuss the possibility of it making much more financial sense to take this Music IP like all of their other Movies/Music and allow it to be accross all platforms. Yet, I'm the one being spanked.

Ah well. Guess no room for discussion here. :/

Nope, look back at your own post. Sounded like you were calling them retarded to me.

Yes, it would make more fiscal sense to put it across all the different platforms. But how many first party IPs do that? That's what you fail to grasp. No, it's not a game like Mario or LittleBigPlanet, but it's owned by Sony. What would happen if the game does much better on the Wii and/or 360, and it moves more systems for Nintendo and Microsoft? Seems like a stupid move for Sony then. Sony lends out most of their movie videogame IPs (e.g. Spiderman) to other developers (Treyarch, for example), so those companies are perfectly allowed to make the game multiplatform. Singstar has always been made by a Sony exclusive developer, and one who was never worked on Nintendo and Microsoft systems.

Again, you're fixated on Singstar. I'm not talking about Singstar. I taking about MJ's music only and that is no different than Spiderman or some other non-gaming IP that Sony owns. If I were MJ's family I would say you must not limit our profits and allow the licensing of the music to 3rd parties as well.

This is the biggest musical act the world has ever seen and you geuss 1 or 2 million sold with no hardware boost? And tell us not to overestimate?

I think after they have Released a version of Singstar MJ they can farm out a third party game like disney high school musical that can appear on all platforms and make more money. Still don't see why they can't make it exclusively theirs for the holiday or something.

@ superchunk:

Just buy a fukkin' PS3/2 if u want this game so bad or STFU, dude!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing of what u've posted so far makes any sense. This game will NEVER come out on the wii (if it actually exists), no matter who much you start bitching and whining. That would b completely absurd, and if u weren't blinded by your nintendo fanboyism, u could easily realize it. No further explanation is needed.

Hey there superprick, thanks for coming late to the party.

I don't want this game. I don't want any MJ game. I don't play or buy any music genre games. I don't want to see a Singstar game made on another console, nor have I ever stated that.

I was questioning the logic of Sony making their rather robust MJ IP an exclusive game to PS3 as with this IP it makes FAR more sense to lease out MJs music and watch it go to all platforms.

I think I'm just going to ignore this thread now as every other post is a repeat of the same thing that I didn't even say.

SORRY TO HAVE QUESTIONED SONY'S CONTROL OVER THEIR NON-GAMING PROPERTIES!!!!

Singstar MJ will sell more copies and  more PS3s than the Thriller album sold...confirmed!!!!!!

yeah everybody that bought the album will also buy the Singstar + PS3...its only logical thinking

Alright, calm down Legendary. I don't agree with Superchunk in this thread, but at least I don't feel the need to insult him. And Superchunk, don't sink to his level and do the same. Let's just try to celebrate that a game like this will give joy to many people of his music. Now, while it would be nice for more people to be able to enjoy it, Sony owns the property. It's their right as a business to decide whether to make it exclusive or not.
