The only reason I would even have for getting a slim is the running quieter and the fact that it bitstreams the HD audio codecs now (which PCM handles just fine anyway). I'll keep my backwards compatible phat with it's upgraded 400 GB hard drive. Thanks.
@geddesmond
Because its interesting & tells us how effective the price really will have been
we are on a videogame sales site......its not about what I'm going to do with the results.....its about seeing how they will affect sony in the future.
I'm only asking because I've seen people try and use this in a negative light. I plan on getting a Slim if anything happens to my current PS3. Although I've money to buy a slim right now and I'm very tempted in buying one because of that price range
Nope - still got my original 60GB - well, actually technically I don't, I've got a replacement after YLOD.
I find it hard to believe hundreds of thousands of PS3 owners have rushed out to buy a slim unless they are very keen to cut down on their electricity bills.
It has no real functional difference and in fact is less functional than many earlier models - for example I have partial BC, card readers, etc.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
@geddesmond
yeah ofcourse thats everyones plan
if my Ps3 dies, I'll have to get the slim
What I want to know is that is anyone INTENTIONALLY buying the PS3 slim by selling their old PS3
this will let us know whether there was much artificial sales increases in PS3 slim sales
I doubt many would rebuy another ps3 if they already have one- that alone would mean 700 dollars on a single system (assuming they bought a phat for 400).
The wave of used ps3s on ebay and amazon suggest people selling their old models for the new one
have my phat, no reason to get another one

None.
I can't believe you made a topic about this. The first thing that comes to my mind is, in a downed economy, why would people throw down $300 for a console they already have.
This subject is a joke.
