ah too much read..can someone sum it up?

Basically if they air the show in current form someone is getting put on Sony's "to be owned" list.  Possible lawsuit ftw! They have to protect the system's image especially from crap watchdog investigations.  I think Sony is in the right here, especially if they ar trying to compare the yellow lights to the RROD. Not very comparable.

Watchdog isn't saying its comparable to RROD, in fact it's not about failure rates at all, its about sony overcharging for repairs.

If such a few PS3's do break down, offering more free warranty wouldn't cost the company that much anyway as claimed.

I'll be happy enough till my PS3 breaks.

Kinect as seen by PS3 owners ...if you can pick at it   ...post it ... Did I mention the 360 was black and Shinny? Keeping Sigs obscure since 2007, Passed by the Sig police 5July10.

BBC is just another NA propaganda soldier

I m sure YLOD rate is still inferior to the current RROD rate

.... time to make another reportage about RROD right ?

you gotta love how some people are trying to make a big deal out of YLOD just so they can make 360's RROD look better

@libellule

This article is really about Sony customer care and cost and less about YLOD. The YLOD reference I think is headline grabbing in the same way RROD is toted as affecting all 360 systems equally.

Isn't it about the same as what Microsoft charges for out of warranty repairs?

Which I agree is rather pricey for usually getting a refurbished unit back that can just as easily fail again.

Hey no need to be snarky :P.  It just seems that this program seems to have a bit of an alarmist repuation, and I think they may go a little too far and try to make an unfair comparison between RROD and YLOD, implying that they are both equally bad, when that is not the case.

To sum up....

SONY are being publicly shamed tonight about their attitude to consumers on the BBC Consumer show "Watchdog" over the coloquial Yellow Light Of Death issue on the PS3.

SONY are upset and some of the "cheap" tricks being used by the BBC to illustrate the problem and are listing a number of potential technical inconsistencies between fact and what they fear will be broadcast.

SONY are employing a big business cheap shot of their own by hinting at potential legal action.
