So, if any of the predicitions are true, from 200-500k Lifetime, then by the standards applied to MH3 on the Wii, ToV will bomb. Afterall, MH3 at 800k is a bomb according to people on this site.

Unless youre quoting someone who said that directly you should just shut up and move along.

Youre no worse than those idiots by ruining this thread with your little epeen wars.

OT: Id say 150k first week

250k lifetime.

Yeah I actually WAS quoting, go check the Japan news sales boards. I'm not ruining anything, I'm just stating the hypocrisy that fanboys have been throwing around, so do yourself a favor and do a bit of research before you reply to my posts.

No one in this thread made reference to MH3 bombing, and you dont know if people in this thread even read that fucking thread. No ones talking about MH3 bombing here, its about Tales so stop bringing youre little epeen shit into other threads.

For relevance - http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=86189&page=1  - Japan software sales - thus related to this topic.

Way to argue with cursing. That must make you right, or something, or just show your inability to debate a point. Whichever comes first.

I am making the point of what numbers make a solid selling game in Japan, and the numbers people are suggesting here. Tales games are a known IP, and if its such a major deal, the sales should reflect it. So what amount of units needs to be sold for a game to be a success in Japan? Is it 300K, 500K, 800k?

edit -

@Vetteman - Reread my prior post - PRICE is a factor. What was the "cheap" version of the PSP MH selling for? Granted, the Wii general audience isnt known for its huge RPG type base.  Expecting Wii Sports -type results for a rpg/capture game is being extreme.

No, you being wrong makes me right.

Threads are independant. Whatever some fool said about MH3 bombing in that threads bares no significance here. So you want to discuss Japanese market trends for what consitutes a flop? Make a thread. You come here here, make a Tales prediction.

See how easy that is. No swearing and im still right.

Maybe its because the latest MH on PSP sold almost 4 million?

And? No one in their right minds would compare home console sales to portable sales. Different price, different way of enjoying the game outright.

That's what people are comparing it to.

Expectations play a huge part in what people say bombed or not. Tales series isn't very big anymore. Monster Hunter has exploded and is now questionably more popular than Final Fantasy in Japan.

Note: I'm not saying anyone or anything bombed or not.

First Day: 80.000
Total: 180.000-200.000

Close to my prediction

1st day: 60k

1st week: 90k

LTD: 150k

Most people are forgetting that this is a year old port.

I'll spare the rest of you readers, this will be dealt with privately. Someone needs a lesson taught.

It is indeed a one year old port but it was said that the preorders were over 200k. Plus the PS3 just had a price cut which will make a difference.

First week: 220k

LTD: 330k

And you're forgetting three things.

1. Tales of Vesperia is not Eternal Sonata

2. Tales of Vesperia flopped and didn't even do half of what the average Tales fanbase buys of a console game

3. Tales of Vesperia on PS3 has enough changes to validate buying another copy. I know many 360 owners, myself included, will buying and playing through it again.

I though this thread was about ToV.

I think different games flop because of expectations people put on them, imagine if FF sold 1million lifetime in japan, good sales for many games but a flop for FF. Also, the way you compare games not only depends on which is a bigger franchise, people have to remember this is a year old port.

500k in sales would be a great accomplishment, but I dont think it will happen, I think it will probably sell more than the 360 version, but I though the same thing for Eternal Sonata.

so you are standing with your previous prediction my friend :)

right now at Amazon.jp, ToV is listed as "shipped in 1-2 months", and that's the version without the launch bonus.

Not to mention that our Source has said that preorders are high and a >200k week one is very likely.
