Forums - Nintendo - The TRUTH on how Nintendo games get localized (+surprise coming)

Why do you think a game like Disaster won't sell? Of course if they plan on doing stealth releases like it has been the case for all the smaller 1st party releases, it's obvious they won't sell. No one knows about them.

But if they at least advertised them, then they would obviously get a lot of sales. Why would an action oriented game not sell if advertised properly? Did Red Steel bomb? Did NMH bomb? Did The Conduit bomb?

Following your reasoning, Nintendo should only make Wii ___ games or Mario games, since the rest is not as profitable. If they made the game it's because they expected it to sell, otherwise they might as well just cancel all their current projects and start making Wii Sports/Fit/Play/Music sequels and more Mario and Zelda games.

Sony was able to turn all of their new IPs into successes. Microsoft was able too. Nintendo is the only one having troubles, mainly because they do send their games to die. Unless they believe that the core market is out of their reach, and if they ever admit that I would instantly stop caring for Nintendo as a whole.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Where are those who told me NCL made all the calls? Oh wait, they will not even dare to come here.

Now we know that if a game doesn't make it here it's not because NCL prohibited it, but rather than a joint decision. Sorry, but NoA isn't something to be proud of.

The whole point of the quote is that the exact mechanics are supposed to be impenetrable to the consumer.

NCL does not make all of the calls, no, but there's precedence that shows that they do have the ability to red-light a project if they feel the need.

Do people understand these games aren't coming because they won't return their money back especially Disaster. Why would NOA release something that they know is probably going lose money.

why is Afrika releasing in the US soon ?

Disaster actually appeals to more people than Afrika.

Afrika sells in Japan only has more sells than Disaster in Europe and Japan COMBINED.

then why release FPS games in japan? you know they can release limited amount and then see if people actually buy it so they can make more copies..

That's not what people were telling me.

NoA can also red-light any project.

Trestres, level with me here.

Are you going to take every single news article that even hints at a contradiction concerning something you were told before and turn it into fuel for an "Ah-HA! I TOLD YOU SO I TOLD YOU SO I TOLD YOU SO" marathon, or maybe a "THIS IS WHY YOU WEREN'T AS RIGHT AS YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE"-fest? Becauase if so, I'm going to save you and me a lot of time from now on.

No, but people did criticize me for believing that NoA was guilty of no games coming here. I won't remain silent when proven right, and I suppose neither would you.

After Nintendo has confirmed that is not only NCL making the calls, from now on telling someone that NCL makes all the calls would be trolling. I just want people to realize what they are saying, so in the future they don't make the same mistakes.

EDIT: It's more like a post to get the message straight, and to avoid further discussions about a subject that was always one of conflict.

You were criticized personally? I find that personally hard to believe, though I admit I did not pay attention to other people in the aforementioned topic very much.

And yes, trestres, NCL does not make all the calls, but this similarly rids you of any right to complain about the specific choices made by Nintendo of America, because there's no way to tell whether or not the impetus for these joint decisions originated on one side of the Pacific or the other.

I want to end this discussion, but blaming NoA will have as much validity as blaming NCL now. Last time the only culprits were NCL, and NoA were always the victims.
