Forums - Sales - Nintendo: "Currently no plans" for Wii price cut

Ail said:
Kinda funny how so many people take at face value every Nintendo statement, not even taking the time to analyze or put them into perspective....

If Nintendo said , it is the the only truth !

I'm sure you would know more than anyone, Ail... with your steadfast obsession with everything Nintendo and specifically Wii.  Every post of yours is about the Wii it seems!

It's not wrong to doubt this news until Nintendo confirms it themselves.  Doesn't mean people are taking Nintendo's word at face value, but moreso they don't put too much stock in unsubstantiated rumors.

People ... look at the source.

This is a UK/EU spokesperson making a statement about something in the US.

And while such retailer-based moves happen for software in the US, they are not common for hardware. (Though if it were ever to happen, Toys R Us could be the place).

Maybe Nintendo is sending a trial balloon -- one retailer, one week price reduction, to see what happens to sales.

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

if a price cut happens itll happen everywhere

Iwata was very adamant that a price cut in one region is bad as it encourages people in other regions to wait

Wow some of you are in denial about a price drop. Of course Nintendo is going to deny this, but some of you in here you need to accept that Nintendo is doing something contrary to your ideal vision for them this generation.

They didn't have to deny it. They could have just kept saying "Nintendo doesn't comment on rumour and speculation" like they always do.

i dont think wii cut will happen, it will still do tremendouly well in the holidays.

at best you will see new bundles.

wii + wii sports + wii sports resort

Its not a price cut! Its a Wii Slim priced at $200! Not technically a Wii price cut then...so they're not lying.

Thank God I can get rid of my old fat Wii.

What is the most amazing is how many people are against this cut.
I don't know, but as a customer I welcome any price cut on products....

Instead of denying it, or saying it's not in Nintendo best interests, we should all welcome any price cut news...

Seriously how many Sony or Microsoft fans did you see complain about a price cut on their product or saying it was a bad thing ?

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

Nintendo don't need to cut the price, not even if they fall behind Microsoft or Sony.

If they still want to sell it at $250 they better bundle an awesome game like Mario Galaxy or something.

That's it. I don't think that any company would outright lie when they know that they will get caught with it in a few weeks. Such an approach would ruin credibility, and shareholder confidence on the long term.

A few days ago, around the time of the first rumors, they simply commented the generic "no comment", but after this Toys R US photo, when EVERYONE started believing the price cut as a fact, they directly denied it.
