Nintendo: "Currently no plans" for Wii price cut

They didn't have to deny it. They could have just kept saying "Nintendo doesn't comment on rumour and speculation" like they always do.

 

That's it. I don't think that any company would outright lie when they know that they will get caught with it in a few weeks. Such an approach would ruin credibility, and shareholder confidence on the long term. 

 

A few days ago, around the time of the first rumors, they simply commented the generic "no comment", but after this Toys R US photo, when EVERYONE started believing the price cut as a fact, they directly denied it.
