Forums - Sales - Nintendo: "Currently no plans" for Wii price cut

The photo of that ad looked convincing, but it would be a bit weird if Nintendo would simply lie in our face.

I mean, Sony didn't ever try to clearly say that the Slim photos are fakes, and there won't be a pricecut, it would be too easy to call them out on that later.

I dont think you'd see two retailers drop the Wii price in the same week below MSRP, it would diminish the benefit for both. The big three always will deny price drops up until the moment they happen. In 2007, Sony infamously claimed there was PS3 price drop coming as late as the third week of September.

It's probaly just a Toys R Us specific promotion

One thing I disagree with that alot of Despondent's are saying is that if you cut the price once you HAVE to keep cutting the price cause people will wait for another. There's a floor, it become's a point where you can't chase every customer, and I'd be SHOCKED if Nintendo ever goes down that path again.

...A single price cut doesn't guarantee continued price cut.

I put this in the category of "By Nintendo cutting price it admits it doesn't have software to move hardware" To me this stand doesn't look at the fact you have to be within tolerance of customer spending. Great software, does no good if people can't afford the console that it come on.

The Interweb is about overreaction, this is what makes it great!

...Imagine how boring the interweb would be if everyone thought logically?

It is however possible that both are dropping the price of the current SKU, because of the introduction of a new SKU. What that would be, I've no idea.

After the surprise of this price cut rumor, I'm almost anticipating a Wii HD...

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Wow some of you are in denial about a price drop. Of course Nintendo is going to deny this, but some of you in here you need to accept that Nintendo is doing something contrary to your ideal vision for them this generation.

It would be murder-suicide for them to announce they are making price cuts in the near future as this would kill all current Wii sales.. All 3 console-makers deny price cuts and they usually end up happening... A $200 Wii + Wii Fit Plus + NSMBW = Another winning holiday season for Nintendo. Otherwise, who knows what could happen.

Kinda funny how so many people take at face value every Nintendo statement, not even taking the time to analyze or put them into perspective....

If Nintendo said , it is the the only truth !

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

Yeah, but Nintendo basically said it was retailer's discount. Not a drop in MSRP.

This wouldn't be the first time that happend in Europe when Nintendo raised the price of the Wii, retailers still offered it at the same price.
