Pokemon will never die as long as the current generation still lives.

Fixed.

I really could see a pokemon game in 50 years and  still sell like crazy...

Imagine the size of the Pokedex...

Maybe by then we will have the Pokemon MMO

Nope.  Everyone will still be playing on their handheld.  Probably pirated on Sony's next platform.

Pixel Art can be fun.

Pokemon MMO on a handheld, 50 years from now... could be possible

Was this really a surprise... At least for Japan?
I'm getting a DS for this game when it launches in North America.. Yes.. Smashed is getting a product from Nintendo.

Good but not surprising.

Amazing!

For a reference, here's the Japan openings

Diamond/Pearl: 1646K - total sales = 5.92M

Ruby/Sapphire: 1273K - total sales = 5.38M

Fire Red/Leaf Green: 1092K - total sales = 3.15M

Platinum: 993K - total sales = 2.5M (and counting, should end at 3M ish)

Emerald: 747K - total = 2.06M

Going by that, the GBA and DS major Pokemon's seem to have sold 3-4 times of their openings. If it is true that this game has in fact had a shorter first week, that means that the 3-4 times of 1.5M is rather likely.

4.5M in Japan is a definite possibility.

seems like it has a very strong following..

It makes me happy to see that Pokemon still lives on.

How do you come up with "almost 1.489 million"?

Seriously.
