Forums - Microsoft - Xbox Live: Overpriced

You can buy live membership for much cheaper online.. what pisses me off more though, is the lack of wifi on the console out of the box...

Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.

you can eat the food alone, but to eat inside with 3 friends you pay.

If Live was still the same service it was back during the Xbox era then your analogy might be a better fit however it doesn't factor in all the changes and improvements that have been made and continue to be made.

Win. Online should be free, you already pay your ISP.

This is like saying that McDonalds should serve free food because you're already paying for gas to drive there.

No, no it is actually nothing like saying that. Let me add something for you to make it more clear. You already pay for your ISP, AND your game. The current setup of live is like paying for gas to drive to McDonalds (paying for ISP), buying a burger (buying a game), and then the manager of mcdonalds telling you you have to pay 50$ a month to actually eat the burger.

Funny, I never noticed Halo 3 charging anyone I know "50$ a month" to play singleplayer.

Wow, you're a persistant fanboy. Fine, the manager tells you you can eat 75% of the burger, but the last 25% will cost you extra.

Of course it's worth it. Why do you think people pay it? When it's not worth it MS will stop charging for it.

Although the pay to play online is stupid. They could just charge for all the extras and everyone would be happy.

now you may not be taking into account all the improvements at mcdonalds

either way i dont see anything too impressive to justify the cost since i got my 360 in 06

if anythign its not as good, too much ads, too much useless shit like facebook that i can do on a computer anytime.

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

What makes non-xbox gamers complain so much about a fee-for-service that doesn't effect them? It's not like XBL fee, causes internet rates to go up...after so many year now...this argument is really getting stale...

We live in a market society, and the million who PAY for the service value it, and are willing to pay...evidently, the other free services don't appeal to gamers, otherwise, they would dump XBL and move on to them. These endless posting across the web are just tired and sad...

Its just ammo for the console wars.  That is why most people complaing don't even own the system.

@yojohn

i agree it is a console war point, like wii graphics, or ps3 price

however as a guy who has em all, all three of those things are problems

my friends dont have ps3 in many cases over price

my friends dont have live in many cases over cost again

and in some cases my friends wont even touch my wii cus of the supposed shit graphics

theyre used in arguments because they are problems

Only suckers pay $50 a year for Live for online play.

Fixed.

The "Microsoft Points" should be enough reason all by itself to avoid Live and letting M$ suck your wallet dry. But that's why many enterprises are successful I guess, their customers are suckers.

Doesn't make any sense. It's a good payment option.

PSN users are fucked in Europe, because not everyone has a credit card. Luckily Sony will change it soon.
