Forums - Sales - Tales of fanbase & sales in Japan

abyss sold 800k japan only, not a mothership title has being released on the leading console this gen, atleast until graces, so you'll have to wait for graces to see if they truly sell better on sony for being sony or it for being the leading console. vesperia on the ps3 should also help in the comparison.

@emilie autumn
Where did you get information that Abyss sold 800k Japan only?
It sold 734k from the release to December 2007. And it was already released in NA by then. I have doubts it sold at least another 100k after.

WOW the tales franchise really fell from grace during this gen & lost popularity during the last few years

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

So roughly 300k if it still remains popular. It seems to be on a downward trend

They haven't made the right choices with the franchise. The DS versions bombed for whatever reason (crappy quality?) despite the enomrous RPG fanbase on the system. And making Vesperia an exclusive (for a year, but still) for the 360 is just stupid. They might have receives lots of money from MS to cmpensate the low sales, but it still hurt the franchise. Same is happening to Star Ocean (even worse actually, 360 exclusive and bad quality).

I think they'll look at both how Vesperia and Graces do to choose a new main platform. Oh, and  believe the PSP deserves a main title after seeing the spin-offs sell so well.

Well, ToV can probably pull off about 400k on the PS3 if preliminaries are to be believed - about the worldwide sales for ToV 360.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

I expect ToV to sell because of many contents it have. This is great for the those people who waited for this game.

Should have just stuck with one platform...

If ToV has a lead char anywhere near as annoying as Emil, it'll flop

I wonder how many people already ran out and got ToV along with a 360 as opposed to waiting for it on the PS3.

What are you talking about? ToV already has a lead char (Yuri) and its not like all the additional content is gonna make him some secondary char and add a totaly new lead char. And as far as I know Yuri is supposed to be "the best Tales main character so far".
