(And why complain about an extra anyways?)

Let me quote myself:

I love the New Game+ concept and I'm glad it's being implemented in more games, but very few of those games are providing strong incentives to use it.

I mean, just getting to the final boss with my new ultimate fusion/max Social Links/best equipment was awesome. It was a great sense of accomplishment.

That's a good enough incentive.

I don't know about most of the people here but I don't have all day, every day to play video games.  I have limited time each day/week to play.  I love playing RPGs but they're long so they eat up a lot of time.  On the first playthrough, it's all new and interesting so it's fine.  However on other playthroughs, if I've seen/done 99% of what there is to see/do in the game then I'm essentially wasting my time to a certain extent.

Games with multiple endings or large branching plots or various large-scale changes based on player input make worthy replays.  KotOR, Jade Empire, Baldur's Gate 2, and many others have a lot of things which change based on player decisions and make each replay a fresh experience.  This is a sharp contrast to the Persona 4 replayability which just means carrying over a few things and an additional enemy/fusion/weapons.

You know what, I don't usually have time to play games all day either. What I do is I play the game once, enjoy it for what it is, AND THEN I'll use a guide just to get everything if there's a reason to. It extends the playtime, and I get my money's worth out of the game in the long run (it's an RPG so I already get it... but you know what I mean!).

Also, you know there are multiple endings in Persona 4, right? What you could always do is save right before the crucial part and see what happens next.

Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

I bet most people that say FF7 have never played Persona 4.

I bet most people who are saying P4 and downplaying FFVII are just jumping on the bandwagon.

FF Vii of course, but why chose P4? its not the best in the series!

Persona 2 Innocent sin > Persona 2 Eternal Punishment > > Persona > Persona 4 > Persona 3

@zone16

I bet P4 or 3 was your first Persona game and you didn't play FF Vii :P

Actually I played all of the FFs and all of Personas.

If you did you didnt need to make that comment

@sc94597

where did i say it was the best?? (althoght its the best for me)

You mentioned that Persona 4 wasn't the best. It IS the best for somebody. Same way FFVII isn't the best for somebody. I do agree with you on Persona 4, but that doesn't make the comparison as moot as you may think.

Final Fantasy VII is very good but some aspects of the game just haven't aged well i.e. the translation flaws are more obvious than ever, graphics including FMVs

Well certainly P4's characters cast beats FFVII's by a mile. althought it's not a surprise.

20 years from now, I will still remember FF7 for what it did to the RPG genre and Playstation system. I will still cringe when I think of Aerith dying, and I will be able to hum One Winged Angel in my head. I will still think of Sephiroth as one of the coolest vllains in a video game. I will always remember the music to Junon, or when Cid finally gets his airship working, or when Rufus meets his bitter end. I will always remember the grind to get Final Attack Materia to AP status.

I'm sorry, but as great of a game Persona 4 is, it will not have any of this kind of staying power. It's almost a disservice to even compare this game.

What does "being remembered in 20 years" have to do with favorite/personally better game? Arguing against personal opinion really pwns, eh?

I mean Halo 3 is better than lets say Haze (this is only an example ofc, I haven't played either but I'm pretty sure I'd like Halo 3 more), but if someone prefers it over Halo 3, is it not a better game for him?

Couldn't the same complaints about Persona 4's battle system be used for FF7's?

Not really the whole persona's determine how strong your attacks were and what weaknesses and strengths you had in comparison to your enemies gives it that edge

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi
