Light coloured stuff reflects more light than dark coloured stuff.
Plus, its only the sides that are shiny... even on the Black one they are shiny(ish) too

It appears to be glossy, why could they not release a glossy black version..... 
Its not real =P
The colours on the PS3 have been inverted. Hence the extremely obvious things like no shadow on the table (in fact the table is just a white box) and the massive black line down the left side.
