No, I'm just taking historical trends with price cuts, especially of second and third place systems, and the fact that the PS3 didn't move much software with the price cut, just hardware, indicating either people just wanted the blu-ray capability, or it was a lot of upgrades, and the fact that I haven't heard of any rabid demand after the first week, indicating most of the demand was satisfied early

Historical trends? Answer me this...
When was the last time a 3rd or 2nd placed console was the 3rd fastest selling console in history?
You ARE underestimating the PS3, as Seece said.
And also, there was plenty of SW sold.

PS3 is NOT the 3rd fastest selling console in history.

According to VGC data, it is. Unfortunately, VGC data only goes back two generations.
When you consider that the PS3 has a good chance of being in the top five best selling consoles of all time, it doesn't seem like such a failure, does it?
If it sells 62 million + and more than the 360, it will be 4th
If it sells below 62 million and more than the 360 or above 62 million and less than the 360, it will be 5th.
If it sells below 62 million, less than the 360 and above 50 million (VERY probably), it will be 6th
This is only home consoles, mind you.
