Forums - Sales - Could the Slim Launch be even higher than 550k?

Okay, Vgchartz were 25% off on PS3 sales for August. (NPD~ 200k,Vgc~150k)

And they first estimated about 50k for the first slim-week in japan and 90-100k for NA.

In reality it was 150k in japan and 150k in NA, and i think without official numbers, vgc would stick with their~80k number for japan, we dont have official numbers for the ps3 in na yet, but sony said there was a 300% increase (week before the slim launch)

So, could the PS3 be even higher than 550k?

Or even as high as 650-700k?

And i dont think Brett is right about the Drop-off, 250k-300k means 350k-450k in reality, because Vgc werent right about last week either.

Sorry for my bad english.

One thing is the data, one other is the preview: ioi can be wrong on predictions, but the data has a lot more chance to be right, even if a % or error margin is normal...

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

possible/likely

suck a huge jump would be damn hard to track.

sept ndp will show a lot.

Well, it kind of goes without saying that it might be higher.

This site estimates sales - there is an unavoidable margin of error, and sometimes it will be larger and other times smaller.

This is true all the time, though, so while I guess I know what you're asking, the fact is the sales for Wii, 360 and PS3 could always be higher (or lower) than shown here.

I guess what we do know is that the PS3 saw one heck of a boost for HW on the back of the Slim, and now all eyes are on how the sales settle.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

To sum up your post: VGC has undertracked PS3 in the past, they could do it again!

Yes, it might be undertracked. It might also be overtracked. We don't know, so it's not for us to ponder.

They will probably say something about the sales at TGS, so we'll get a more accurate number at that time.
